Who you are
- Fully Qualified accountant or qualified by experience
- Significant experience of managing multiple projects, workstreams and deadlines, working with other managers to achieve cross functional projects, and multi tasking with ease
- Experience in delivering change, challenging the status quo and confident to question current practices, striving for continuous improvement
- Experience of building strong relationships at all levels, collaborating with the right people at the right time and keeping your stakeholders informed (across finance teams)
- Relevant experience of analysing processes, designing solutions and project managing the implementation to help build a Finance Team for the future
- Significant financial planning, forecasting and reporting experience
- Significant experience and knowledge of core Finance processes
What the job involves
- As Finance Change Manager for Group FP&R and Finance Business Partnering teams, you will work as the conduit between these teams and the wider Finance team to deliver substantial improvement to our financial planning, reporting and analysis
- Identify all stakeholder issues impacted by changes, build appropriate relationships and work closely with Finance Systems, Technology and Procurement teams to ensure dependencies are well understood and considered across all change and continuous improvement projects , to ensure change plans succeed
- You will ensure that regular and effective comms are delivered to the wider finance team to ensure there is awareness of key decision points and transparency within the programme of continuous improvement
- Ensure change impact to financial planning, reporting and analysis and the Group FP&R and Finance Business Partnering teams are fully understood and plans are in place to manage this effectively across directorates and teams
- Identify financial operational process & finance systems improvements leading to increased accuracy and efficiency of the financial planning, reporting and analysis
- Identify automation and other improvement opportunities across the Finance spectrum to contribute to our vision for the Future Finance Operating Model

Our take
The world’s largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK (CRUK) was founded from a merger between the Cancer Research Campaign and the Cancer Research Fund in 2002. CRC and ICRF had been long-standing pinnacles of the British medical institution, their work dating back to 1902 and 1923 respectively, and the merger signalled a strong step forward for UK medical institutes’ global influence.
A multi-armed charity, CRUK uses both grant-funded researchers and its own employed staff to research the treatments and causes of cancer, whilst its striking advertising and marketing campaigns are responsible for influencing public policy on the causes, prevention, and treatment of the disease. An example of a significant public campaign was Stoptober, which appeared to have triggered a third of a million smokers at the time to try quit tobacco throughout the month of October.
Alongside its pharmaceutical efforts, in 2023 CRUK funded clinical trials for the first-ever proton beam therapy for breast cancer, indicating a focus on technological innovations in the fight against cancer. On this subject, CRUK has also taken part in a billion-pound investment in the Francis Crick Institute, a biomedical research institute that is aiming to make England an international leader in the industry.
