Who you are
- Student to obtain a Master's degree in Finance, or a related field
- Proficiency in basic accounting principles, including understanding debits and credits, financial transactions, and familiarity with financial statements
- Strong skills in using Microsoft Excel/GSheets for data analysis and financial reports. This includes knowledge of functions, formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation
- Effective communication abilities and good interpersonal skills
- Full working proficiency in English

- Having an internship agreement from your school or university is mandatory. We won’t be able to proceed with your application otherwise
Desirable
- Experience in treasury and Kyriba knowledge
- Knowledge of French or Portuguese
What the job involves
- We are looking for an intern to join the international finance team at BlaBlaCar
- The team's mission is to ensure accurate, transparent, and compliant financial management while supporting informed decision-making within the company
- As international financial controller intern, your role will be to support the team on the daily activities, support financial reporting, conduct financial analysis and get involved in a wide range of projects
- You will be reporting to the International finance manager and working with a team of 3 people
- Process invoices, handling payments, and managing financial records for our international entities (Brazil, Spain & Italy)
- Support during monthly closing for international entities, prepare and analyze intercompany reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements under IFRS
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and provide support to financial controllers on specific ad hoc projects

Our take
Travelling can be an expensive process, with public transport and petrol costs forming a significant contribution towards this. Many people choose to purchase last-minute bus tickets or travel in carpools to minimize costs and carbon emissions, but these opportunities can be difficult to find and there is no framework to locate them and assess their legitimacy.
BlaBlaCar provides an online marketplace for connecting travelers with carpools and spare seats on buses in order to provide a budget alternative to traditional means of travel. Drivers can sign up to provide a carpool service, and BlaBlaCar verifies the identity and reviews of both carpool drivers and bus companies to ensure that the budget service is fully regulated.
Budget alternatives to traditional public transport and driving routes are nothing new, but BlaBlaCar has taken a unique approach by greatly minimizing costs and encouraging efficiency by providing a regulated framework for carpooling. Furthermore, the company provides last-minute and predetermined bus seats, reducing costs for users whilst preventing buses from travelling wastefully with empty seats. It's this unique business model which helped spring BlaBlaCar into profitability in 2022, and a 2024 debt funding round is being used to acquire other businesses and expand its reach.
