Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in accounting
- Solid foundation in (Dutch and international) accounting principles, with hands-on experience in financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Clear communication style with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Dutch is an advantage
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Financial Accounting to take ownership of the financial accounting domain
- Together with our junior financial accountant, you are 100% responsible for all our accounting, reporting and financial compliance
- Next to this, you also play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities, driving budget compliance, cost consciousness and overall insights in our business results in collaboration with the FP&A Manager
- You will be reporting directly to our COO
- You’ll serve as the go-to expert for accounting questions, manage relationships with external stakeholders like auditors and tax advisors, and work closely with internal teams such as operations, sales, marketing, and engineering
- This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by enhancing processes, systems, and controls in a dynamic, fast-growing environment
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Monitor and report on budget variances, providing actionable financial insights to support management decisions
- Ensure proper consolidation and management of intercompany relationships across Source companies (including our US entity)
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
- Stay updated on and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and accounting regulations
- Mentor the junior financial accountant by setting goals, providing coaching, and ensuring tasks are completed on time with high-quality in line with accounting policies
- Maintain and improve internal controls to enhance the reliability of financial reporting
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements in accounting operations
- Serve as a key liaison during external audits and regulatory reviews
- Contribute to key company initiatives, including system implementations, fundraising efforts, and tax audits
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects that drive strategic growth and operational excellence
Our take
Dutch agtech Source.ag installs AI-powered indoor farms in order to democratise access to sufficient fruit and vegetables whilst using fewer resources. Given that almost 45% of people worldwide do not have access to enough fruit and veg, this is a sizable problem to address.
As the climate crisis worsens, the company's services are in high demand, as indoor farms are essential in providing higher food security under increasingly challenging weather conditions. Source's hi-tech farms are able to protect crops against extreme heat, cold, rainfall or pests.
The company continues to invest in the development of its software that is making greenhouses smarter, whilst also onboarding new customers and expanding partnerships. It is well-funded, which has enabled accelerated product development and supported the expansion of commercial collaborations.
