Who you are
- Evidence applying AI to transform design craft as well as the design of user-centered AI experiences, innovating across surfaces and interaction models
- Experience with 1-to-100 (as opposed to 0-to-1) product evolution with examples of experiential “product-led growth” initiatives that establish emerging mental models and shape ever evolving value propositions
- Customer-centricity to the core, weaving customer stories and evidence into strategies, design work, and storytelling as a result of deep customer understanding
- Deep Enterprise B2B experience, crafting experiences for highly technical end users across a multi-stack technology platform
- Demonstrated expertise being a leader of leaders, driving a team of designers to conceptualize, build, and scale experiences across complex ecosystems
- Expertise delivering clear, connected experiences across product and persona boundaries
- Equally comfortable leading teams through big, complex platform-level initiatives that touch multiple products and teams
- Established track-record of building and leading design efforts across surfaces from setting strategies to delivering design solutions across touchpoints
- Business acumen and ability to connect design strategy to business value
- Ability to communicate complex subjects with clarity and impact to a variety of audiences
- Strong leadership, partnering, and influencing skills

What the job involves
- We are currently seeking a Director of Product Design, Work & Enterprise, to join our Product Design leadership team and lead some of our newest areas of innovation (Practice of Law and Enterprise) that will power our next phase of growth
- This leader will own the vertical products and horizontal services that power how lawyers do legal work (i.e. , the Practice of Law) as well as the end-to-end experience for our Enterprise customers
- This role is available to candidates across Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US
- If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto), you will be expected to be in office a minimum of twice per week on one of our Anchor Days

- Lead Experience Strategy: Define and drive high-impact design strategies across a complex, multi-product portfolio, translating "North Star" visions for highly “technical” end users into pragmatic roadmaps that consider emerging market forces, nascent mental models, and longer-term business growth
- Steward Platform-Level Systems Thinking: Navigate the "platform vs. vertical" tension by managing platform-wide patterns and cross-cutting workflows (e.g., onboarding, notifications, PLG) to ensure a cohesive, integrated experience across products of varying maturity
- Institutionalize Design Quality: Contribute to and implement mechanisms for assessing, measuring, and scaling design quality, maintaining a high bar for craftsmanship across complex B2B data structures and multi-user environments
- Drive Organizational Clarity and Alignment: Act as the primary bridge across initiative and product boundaries, fostering alignment between cross-functional stakeholders to resolve ambiguity and ensure a unified ecosystem across roles and across segments
- Cultivate High-Performing Teams: Build and mentor a world-class design organization by investing in coaching, career development, and the recruitment of top-tier talent capable of navigating enterprise-grade architectural challenges
- Champion the Strategic User Voice: Influence product strategy at the highest levels by aligning customer-centric research with business goals, ensuring the platform remains resilient and intuitive as it scales into new enterprise markets

Modern law firms increasingly manage their work digitally but the lack of a specialised remote solution means that workflows have become fragmented. This leads to legal practice managers having to juggle multiple software solutions across various devices.
Clio provides a legal practice management platform designed for law firms, allowing users to manage billing for legal aid cases, access and manage documents and store files across multiple devices. Whilst other startups are operating in this niche, Clio has uniquely focussed on synchronisation across remote devices and on a wide range of integrations, allowing the user to access information from other industry standard software such as Xero and Klyant from within a single interface.
Clio has raised a large amount of investment capital and benefited from the COVID-era move to cloud technologies. Most recently, it raised a 2024 Series F round, which saw the company attain a valuation exceeding $3 billion. This funding is being used to accelerate AI development and to allow existing investors and employees to cash out their shares.
