Special Projects Associate (Retention & Growth), Simmer

• 1–3 years’ experience in a fast-moving commercial environment, such as a startup, scale-up, Founder’s Associate, growth, strategy, operations, analytics or consulting role
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to use data to identify what is happening, understand why and recommend what to do next
• Evidence of taking ownership of a problem or project from initial thinking through to execution and results
• Commercial curiosity and an interest in how customer behaviour affects growth, retention, revenue and lifetime value
• The ability to think clearly and work at pace when the answer, process or next step is not immediately obvious
• High levels of drive, learning agility and personal accountability
• Genuine motivation to build a career in a high-growth, entrepreneurial business

• You'll join Ed Birch's Special Projects team—a small, high-impact team focused on solving some of the most commercially important problems in the business. Rather than sitting within a single function, the team works wherever the biggest opportunity exists, partnering closely with Growth, Ecommerce, Product, Data, Creative and Operations to turn insight into measurable commercial impact
• You'll be trusted with real ownership from day one. Some weeks you'll be analysing customer behaviour to understand why people stay, pause or cancel. Other weeks you might be designing experiments, improving customer journeys, launching new initiatives or helping solve broader commercial challenges as the business scales
• No two weeks look the same, but your work will always be focused on helping Simmer make better decisions and grow more intelligently
• You'll spend your time
• Investigating customer behaviour, subscription trends and retention data to uncover commercial opportunities
• Turning data into clear recommendations that influence business decisions
• Designing, launching and measuring experiments that improve customer retention, lifetime value and growth
• Improving customer journeys across onboarding, engagement, subscriptions and reactivation
• Working across Growth, Ecommerce, Product, Data and Operations to deliver projects from idea through to execution
• Using AI, automation and technology to improve how we work and solve problems more efficiently
• Taking ownership of high-priority commercial projects as business priorities evolve
• Learning directly from experienced commercial leaders whilst building the judgement to solve increasingly complex problems independently

• This isn't a traditional CRM or marketing role. It's an opportunity to build broad commercial experience inside one of the UK's fastest-growing consumer businesses, working on projects that directly influence how Simmer grows today—and helping shape where it goes next

• We want the process to give you a genuine sense of Simmer, the role and the people you would be working with
• 1. Introductory video call with our Talent Team (20 - 30 mins) We’ll learn more about what you’ve done, what motivates you and why this role interests you. We’ll also explore how you approach ownership, ambiguity and commercial problem-solving
• 2. Video Interview with the Hiring Manager - (30 mins) This stage will go deeper into how you think. You’ll discuss your experience, work through a realistic commercial problem and explore how you use data, prioritise opportunities and turn analysis into action
• 3. Live commercial case - working session with Hiring Manager or a member of our Commercial team (30-45 mins) You’ll be given a simplified business scenario and asked to identify the key issue, form a hypothesis and recommend what you would do next. We’re interested in the quality of your thinking, not polished presentation skills or prior knowledge of the meal-delivery industry. There is no expectation to complete a lengthy take-home task
• 4. Final conversation with our Founder - face-to-face conversation with Simmy, our Co-founder and CEO ( 1hr) This stage is focused on mutual fit: your ambitions, motivation, resilience, appetite for responsibility and whether Simmer is the right environment for you to do your best work
