Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 2 years in digital marketing within the music industry (Label, Distributor, DSP etc) or a similar field. Proven track record of successful campaign development and execution
- Strong understanding and knowledge of marketing black music genres in the United Kingdom
- You are passionate about the music business and have a desire to build a career in the industry
- Knowledge of booking digital advertisements across platforms including Meta, Google and TikTok Ads Manager preferred
- In-depth understanding of social media platforms and the current platform trends and updates required
- An understanding of digital service provider platforms and how they can be used in digital marketing campaigns to elevate music consumption and discovery
- A strong proficiency in utilizing analytics tools to track and interpret release performance, trends, and metrics
- Basic Photoshop, HTML and video editing software experience is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to serve as a key liaison between artists, labels, internal teams, and external clients
- Familiarity with Google Suite and project management software a plus
- Strong project management skills and the ability to handle multiple campaigns simultaneously. A highly organized professional that pays close attention to the details with the ability to multitask and prioritize to tight deadlines

What the job involves
- At The Orchard, we are looking for a highly motivated, forward thinking digital marketing and advertising strategist to join our UK team
- This role will be responsible for providing top tier marketing services to our label and artist client roster working across Black Music genres in the UK including: R&B/Soul, Hip-Hop, Rap, Afro Beats and more
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and executing strategic always-on digital marketing campaigns designed to generate publicity and awareness
- They will be responsible for building audiences and running effective CRM strategies across their campaigns as well as engaging fanbases to drive sales and revenue for new releases and catalogue titles
- This position reports to the Senior Director, Marketing Strategy and will have project direction from the Relationship Lead
- Label & Artist Communication: Serve as the marketing point of contact for assigned labels and artists, leading discussions around marketing strategies within the online space, campaign planning, data collection and CRM execution and ongoing performance evaluation
- Creativity: Conceptualize and execute creative marketing campaigns in order to remain at the forefront of marketing and audience development
- Strategic Oversight: Oversee and manage marketing campaigns for high-priority releases, with a focus on artist and label initiatives. Drive informed decisions based on data and performance metrics. You will be expected to keep on top of current online trends and tools and how they can be utilised within marketing campaigns
- Performance Analysis: Analyze the impact of campaigns and the value of various segments of fans & audiences identifying trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to optimize both pre- and post-release strategies. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of platforms and tools to build audiences, engage fanbases and drive demand
- Internal & External Partnerships: Seek out opportunities for artist and label development through internal resources and external tools or services that could enhance campaign efforts. Work with multiple departments and team members to bring innovative marketing activations to life in the digital and real world. Foster fan community relationships to amplify campaign reach and effectiveness
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with local market teams globally to identify and utilize cultural touchpoints for audience acquisition, engagement and other label objectives
- Problem-Solving & Flexibility: Be proactive in identifying challenges and providing solutions to keep release campaigns on track. Demonstrate flexibility and a balance of supporting label needs. Be nimble as priorities arise outside of process, be able to move with importance as well as vision

The company has spent nearly a decade of that time operating as a subsidiary of Sony Music.
The addition of YouTube monetisation services a decade ago was a smart move for The Orchard - even if it’s landed the company in some hot copyfraud water for what some criticise as an overzealous approach to copyright infringement claims. It’s meant that artists with The Orchard have more tools in their arsenal to combat the rise of streaming services, which have put independent artists in a difficult position regarding monetisation.
If the company wants to continue providing the best service for independent artists, however, it may need to be more proactive in accommodating new and highly influential trends in music marketing. TikTok, for example, has become a major tool for generating exposure, and many artists are experimenting independently with NFTs. The industry is moving at light speed, and The Orchard may need to pick up its pace to continue attracting independent talent.
