Who you are
- You’ll be action-oriented, curious and eager to learn
- Your ability to work across functions and adapt quickly will be key
- 3+ years of experience in an operations, strategy or a similar role, ideally in consulting, tech, or fintech
- Experience in a product-led environment is a must-have, in a regulated environment a nice-to-have
- Ability to think strategically while executing effectively at an operational level
- A detail-oriented, data-driven approach to problem-solving
- Experience managing projects/programmes with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of seniority
- Comfortable navigating change and ambiguity in a fast-moving environment
- A team player with a proactive, problem solving mindset
What the job involves
- This (brand-new!) role is a Strategy & Operations position embedded in our newly created Wealth pillar
- With a focus on our Savings and Investment products, you’ll partner cross-functionally with legal and compliance on topics such as licensing, finance and product performance on commercial modelling and crucially, product and engineering to drive the launch of exciting new products
- Strategy & Planning - in close collaboration with Pillar & Product leadership, help validate the strategy & OKRs and drive quality in planning cycles
- Operations - help monitor performance of the Pillars and provide operational support to drive improvements
- Execution - support on specific initiatives within the wealth pillar
- You could be project managing the launch of a new wealth product, scoping out markets and competitors in this space, or liaising with external providers to make things happen!
- This is a dynamic and varied role
- You'll own the operational backbone and day-to-day cadence of the pillar/business area
- Run core operating rhythms including planning, OKRs, and key leadership forums
- Act as a trusted operational partner to Product leadership, anticipating issues and removing friction
- Bring structure and momentum to complex, cross-functional discovery and early-stage initiatives
- Surface risks, dependencies, and decision points early to maintain speed and alignment
- Establish and uphold strong execution discipline through clear project management standards and processes
- Actively drive initiatives from idea to delivery, maintaining accountability, pace, and transparency
- Liaise cross-functionally with teams such as Product, Legal, Compliance and Engineering
Our take
People are increasingly not satisfied with the products being offered by traditional banks, which have proven slow to react to the needs of younger consumers who expect more from their everyday experiences.
Cleo was one of the first companies to make great use of chatbots that sit within Facebook's messenger app. This chatbot-first approach and Gen Z user base have given it strong virality. It now has millions of registered users, 99% of which are based in the US, leading to a decision to take a year break from the UK market to focus on its US Gen Z customers. And after a successful year in the US its now eyeing up a return to the UK.
Its Series C funding will help the company to double down in the US, where it will make a significant increase in employee headcount, and enable Cleo to maintain and expand its service during an economic downturn.
Financial advice delivered via bots is a crowded space, so Cleo benefits from having a strong brand presence. It has gone for very bold, fun, Gen Z-focused messaging which helps it to stand out from competitors such as Emma, Plum, and Chip.
