Our take

The mobile gaming industry is worth close to $200 billion and shows no signs of slowing. Glu Mobile, now part of the Electronic Arts portfolio (a $2.4 billion purchase), is a is a global developer and publisher of freemium games for smartphone and tablet devices. The studio is behind hit licensed mobile games like Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, and MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2021.

Glu's games are free but they encourage players to drop money on unlocking another secret power, or picking up a useful tool that isn’t available without a purchase.

EA and Glu together will reach over 100 million players per month. Mobile continues to grow as the biggest gaming platform in the world and their parent company will allow Glu to double the size of their mobile business as well as combining with EA’s industry leading IP in sports and beyond - giving them an edge over competitors like Nintendo and Ubisoft.
