Role
Who you are
- Mandatory: 2-3 years of SaaS field sales experience selling databases, data warehouses, or data tools
- Track record of meeting/exceeding quota
- Outbound prospecting experience and comfort with the tools used
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well across the organization
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of solution selling with experience navigating complex sales cycles, engaging with C-suite executives, and negotiating SaaS agreements
- This role is primarily focused on developing new business. This includes prospecting and pipeline development in coordination with the extended GTM team. Relevant background experience aligned with these primary goals is a requirement
- Experience selling a technical product to technical buyers. Relevant experience selling a database, data warehouse, or data tools is preferred but not required
- Lead full sales cycles including prospecting, scoping, negotiations, and growth of the customer
- Work closely with Field Engineering to be trusted advisors to potential customers evaluating Materialize for their business in a competitive market
- Deliver presentations, demonstrations, and coordinate resources to help new customers make informed decisions about their technology choices
- Take ownership of your business and operate with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Collaborate across all lines of business to effectively communicate the voice of the customer, capture product feedback, and to ensure an exceptional user experience
- Be comfortable educating on the value of new technology and approaches to solving problems
- Prior experience with common sales technology stack - SFDC, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, intent tools, Outreach, etc
What the job involves
- As an Enterprise Account Executive, you will be responsible for partnering with new business prospects as well as existing customers to educate, evaluate, scope, launch, and grow their use of Materialize
- Lead full sales cycles including prospecting, scoping, negotiations, and growth of the customer. This includes growing existing customers to drive net dollar expansion
- Work closely with Field Engineering to be trusted advisors to potential customers evaluating Materialize for their business in a competitive market
- Develop both inbound and outbound pipelines as part of our data-informed Product Lead Sales model
- Deliver presentations, demonstrations, and coordinate resources to help new customers make informed decisions about their technology choices
- Take ownership of your business and operate with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Collaborate across all lines of business to effectively communicate the voice of the customer, capture product feedback, and to ensure an exceptional user experience
- Be comfortable educating on the value of new technology and approaches to solving problems
Our take
Materialize is the first standard SQL interface for streaming data available to engineers, allowing them to build complex queries without needing any specialized skills or microservices. Unlike other streaming data platforms, Materialize computes and maintains data as it is generated so query results are accessible the moment they are needed.
Materialize's ability to provide rapid and accurate access to data has been recognized in the industry. It has grown its developer community to about 1000 people and attracted a wide range of customers including Density, an IoT-focused space utilization company, and Kepler Cheuvreux, an independent European financial services company.
SQL is an extremely useful marketing and analytical tool for businesses, so naturally there are many competitors such as Datatables, Font Awesome, Ruby on Rails, and ASP.net handlebars. However Materialize has taken full advantage of its first mover status in this space and maintains a strong market lead against its rivals.
Since its founding in 2019, Materialize has become a multi-million dollar revenue company. Funds are being used to further accelerate the development and adoption of its data streaming technology, and expand its engineering team across the US and internationally.
