Who you are
- 10+ years of Sales experience, ideally within esports
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business administration preferred
- Scrappy, hungry, and willing to roll up their sleeves
- Successful previous experience meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
- Strong business acumen and industry expertise
- Excellent responsiveness, organization, and collaboration skills
- A big plus if you have gaming experience, esports knowledge, worked with content creators and/or partnerships
What the job involves
- Cloud9 is looking for a high-performing Sales Director to help us with outbound and inbound sales opportunities. We are looking for someone that has a desire to work with our partnerships and product teams to develop inventory and packaging and help us meet our customer acquisition and revenue growth targets by keeping our company competitive and innovative
- Our ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of and experience with the sales process, excelling at lead generation, relationship building, and closing deals
- Design and implement a strategic business plan that expands company’s customer base and ensure its strong presence
- Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales cycle
- Represent the company, with a comprehensive understanding of our offerings
- Research consumer needs and identify how our solutions meet them
- Track, analyze, and communicate key quantitative metrics and business trends as they relate to partner relationships
- Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs
- Present sales, revenue, and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
- Own recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of sales representatives as the team grows
- Category prospecting, outbound lead generation, inbound lead management, meeting scheduling, presentation building, partnership ideation and scoping
- Other duties as assigned
Our take
The eSports market is a tough nut to crack for new entries. Though the space has received billions in investment over the last decade, lots of organizations fall by the wayside in a hyper competitive race for audience engagement. Cloud9 however, is not one of these.
The 2013-founded company has grown into one of the world’s leading eSports organizations. Its success thus far owes a lot to the industry knowledge of Co-founder and CEO, Jack Etienne, who left another leading organization, Team SoloMid, to start the company.
Perhaps the most interesting recent development at Cloud9 is its partnership with Blockchain.com. This is a further indication of the increasing links between crypto and eSports, due largely to shared participants, that may help Cloud9 in its growth.
