Who you are
- Track record of building and successfully executing against a B2B sales pipeline; must come from a technology sales background with preference for prior experience in public sector sales. SaaS and/ or early-stage company experience highly desirable
- Track record of building strong, trusted relationships in a professional setting and maintaining these over the long-term
- Results driven. We have ambitious growth targets and as a unit we will hit them. Embrace that culture, understand the KPIs and develop strategies to exceed them
- Familiarity with market dynamics, trends and customer landscape in infrastructure, mobility and/ or public sector; direct experience and/or demonstrable passion highly desirable
- Strategic thinker, grounded in objective analysis but with a flare of entrepreneurial confidence with a can-do, roll-your-sleeves-up attitude to develop, test, build and execute new company initiatives. Possesses a natural ability to influence customers thoughts
- Bonus points for background knowledge in AI/ML and exposure to, or background in transport/mobility markets
What the job involves
- Reporting to the Business Development Lead; win hearts and minds in local authority customers, building a trusted advisor relationship and winning new business managing their mobility data requirements
- Self-build a strong pipeline of new customer prospects with your entrepreneurial spirit – we’ll support you every step of the way, but you’ll have the autonomy to choose the best ways to engage your target customers
- Meet and present to target customers to clearly articulate Alchera’s value proposition and establish us as a trusted partner, in person and virtually
- Execute swiftly & effectively, coordinating across teams as needed both internally and within target customers
- Feed into the wider sales strategy being cultivated by the Business Development Lead. We learn every day and we share our findings; good and bad
- Be brave and challenge our thoughts and perceptions, addressing them with intelligence learned from customer interactions. Alchera’s growth path is customer centric, so developing deep understanding of the market should be second nature
- Ensure that business development activities are logged within our chosen CRM, HubSpot maintaining CRM hygiene and accurate forecasting is maintained
- Help to shape our product and marketing roadmaps by understanding market demands and channelling these requirements back to the business, to enable us to give you the materials and products needed to succeed
- Recommend business improvements. We’ve got a playbook, but with your help we can make it better. We strive for small gains every day
- Ability to self-manage, issue proposals and competitive tender responses, working with teams across the organisation to ensure a clear and compelling pitch
- With the support of the Business Development Lead, lead contract negotiations with customers and partner organisations, ensuring optimal risk/reward
- Work closely with the product and management teams to identify and scope proof of concept opportunities for outcome-based pilots that will clearly lead to new growth
- Represent the company externally; organise a presence at key events and conferences, liaise with corporate team and advisors for hosting strategic roundtable events

Alchera Technologies was established in order to provide real-time data and analytics for infrastructure operators, allowing data-driven decision-making to drive better transport networks. It delivers this by providing operators of road infrastructure with historical, real-time, and predicted information about roadways so they can make decisions based on evidence instead of gut instinct.
Along with enabling more effective traffic management and optimisation of road network capacity, Alchera helps decrease travel time, improve bus networks, and reduce environmental impacts. It differentiates itself from existing solutions by using AI to drive better insights into data at scale, operating with lower cost, higher reliability, and greater coverage. Combining existing sensor networks - such as mobile, internet of things, and CCTV - can construct powerful recommendations for operators.
So far Alchera has partnered with National Highways, Transport for London, and councils including York, Lancashire, Oxford, Cambridge and many more. In January 2024, Costain and Alcher delivered work for National Highways to use predictive analytics to optimise road maintenance, saving cost and reducing the impact on customer journeys.
