Role
Who you are
- Minimum of 4 years wholesale experience, with at least 2 years overseeing Big Box Partnerships
- Strong relationship skills: ability to lead and manage multiple high-level relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build cross category & cross channel gross to net and retail sales plans from the bottom up
- Understanding of market share
- Elevated understanding of competition
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to independently organize and set priorities and adhere to budgets
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel & Google Slides – with ability to recap high volumes of data and present clear learnings and direction
What the job involves
- The Account Executive, Big Box Wholesale is focused on winning new Mass Channel distribution as well as growing key strategic accounts
- This team player is responsible for leading relationships with internal and account specific key stakeholders, driving marketing calendar, programs, and strategy to achieve the retail, gross, and net sales plans for the organization in Big Box accounts such as Target, Walmart, and Best Buy
- Plan, implement, control, and deliver annual stock and sales plans working to achieve/exceed targets while communicating any shifts
- Collaborate with internal cross functional partners to develop key strategies, marketing plans, and visual enhancements to expand brand
- Ensure accuracy and tracking of inventory while pushing to account opportunities or shortfalls to secure more shipping. Drive in-stock rates, on-time POs, and accurate returns
- Protect and build strategies to ensure Big Box businesses are built for success
- Manage Co-Op and Markdown funding to budget
- Lead weekly meetings with key stakeholders for each account serviced to review business, and future opportunities/needs
Our take
About a third of adults don't get enough quality sleep (less than seven hours a night) with severe health consequences. Casper, a mattress company, can't do much about steadily increasing workloads and sleep-disrupting social media alerts, but it can improve the quality of the sleep we get with its innovative range of sleep products.
Casper burst onto the market in 2014 as an innovator in sleep products. Mattresses were traditionally bulky and expensive but by taking advange of new polymer techologies, Casper could make a cheaper mattress that could easily be folded for delivery. This, paired with its web presence and creative, was an overnight success, rapidly achieving a $1 billion valuation, and spawning a small industry of rival "bed in a box" startups.
While ahead of the mattress industry on R&D and marketing, Casper has struggled financially since going public in early 2020 due to volatile market conditions. In 2021 it was acquired by a private equity firm and has recently divested itself of its Canadian operations as it refocuses on its core business in the US market.
