Role
Who you are
- You have a breadth of communications experience – You have 5+ years of experience in communications roles, ideally within the retail and/or technology industries. You have direct experience supporting communication efforts for Marketing and/or Product & Technology roadmaps teams. Additionally, you have experience supporting a de-centralized workforce
- You are passionate about the way communications impacts the employee experience – You believe in 360 communications and are excited to partner with the corporate and consumer communications partners to develop impactful 360 communications programs
- You are a strategic thinker – You see the bigger picture and are able to identify the information needed to effectively communicate to your target audiences
- You’re a natural storyteller – You are a pro at developing narratives and effectively reaching internal audiences with strategic messaging across multiple channels and mediums

What the job involves
- The Stitch Fix team is looking for an internal communications lead to lead internal communications for our Marketing and Product & Technology teams, and help drive our broader efforts to inform, engage and inspire Stitch Fix employees
- The Communications Lead will report to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications
- Develop strategic internal communications plans and content for the Marketing and Product & Technology divisions that ladder to the company’s broader business strategy and Marketing and Product & Technology roadmaps. Partner closely with external communications partners to develop 360 communications campaigns
- Be a trusted partner who provides data driven counsel to leaders and stakeholders, with a focus on Marketing and Product & Technology. Build and maintain cross functional relationships in order to successfully execute communications plans
- Execute division-specific events (e.g., Divisional All Hands) by partnering with business leaders on end-to-end planning and leading execution including content development and management of logistics
- Support enterprise internal communications programs by leading or supporting large-scale initiatives as needed, including leading strategy and execution of our weekly newsletter
- Support end-to-end planning of our quarterly Corporate All Hands meetings, and other enterprise meetings as needed, in partnership with the Sr. Communications Manager, including being on-site at our San Francisco, CA Headquarters during live events as needed
- Support planning of enterprise-wide, internal communications led events as needed
- Be a brand ambassador by protecting and promoting the Stitch Fix brand and always looking for opportunities to tell the Stitch Fix story to employees
- Measure and optimize the effectiveness of communications by tracking the effectiveness of all Marketing and Product & Technology communications and advising on pivots as needed
- Identify communication gaps and challenges and create solutions to overcome them
Our take
Shopping online for clothes is not always a fun experience. Finding clothes you like is only half the battle. Sizing guides and return policies seem to have been designed to be challenging to understand, and can also vary wildly from company to company.
Stitchfix sets out to change this by making online clothes shopping personalized and hassle-free. Customers take a survey on their personal tastes, and pay a one-off fee for a stylist, to receive a box of 5 personalized items. Then, they simply pay for any items they keep, or return what they don't want free of charge. The stylists fee is deducted from the first purchase and if they keep all 5 items, they receive a discount.
Stitchfix's unique blend of technology, and human touch in styling, allows the company to deliver its personalized experience at scale, with its growing data sets putting them in a great place to predict consumer trends and preferences. Unfortunately, the company has been hit hard by the current economic climate - cutting staff back in June 2022 as well as again in early 2023. Only time will tell if this once exciting brand will be able to bounce back from this bump in the road and find success again in the future.
