Freight shipping amounts to around 3% of global carbon emissions, a substantial footprint that has scope to decrease. Shipzero is aiming to do just that through its team of data management and analytics experts.
Shipzero’s platform helps shippers and logistics companies reduce and manage their emissions by calculating their carbon footprint data. The company addresses the fact that within the freight industry, large amounts of data go unused, so it taps into this to find carbon reduction solutions. It collects data from ERP systems, TMS and data warehouses, and checks its accuracy before calculating the emissions attached to them. Reports are then generated that contain actionable insights into a company’s emissions.
$8M in Series A suggests that the Hamburg-based company is drawing attention in its national market. Its funding will fuel growth internationally, where it will come up against competitors such as Flexport and Climatiq. However, Shipzero’s European focus and human touch will help it stand out from the crowd in the long run.
