Who you are
- 5+ years of relevant experience in HR, Onboarding, Recruiting or Learning & Development, with proven experience building and implementing successful employee programs
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work independently to propose ideas, create content, and deliver on deadline
- Proven expertise in developing and delivering content, facilitator talking points, emails to target audiences, and proposals at all management levels
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data and make recommendations based on findings
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective onboarding strategies and programs
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a strong focus on delivering results
What the job involves
- Manage, enhance, and create onboarding content to ensure the new employees receive information necessary to acclimate quickly and accelerate their onboarding experience. This includes ensuring completion of compliance training in a timely manner
- Ensure that new employees receive a positive and welcoming experience, and that their questions and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner
- Champion our Onboarding/New Hire Success programs globally and work with PBPs and Talent, Learning, and Enablement teams to ensure consistency
- Work closely with HR and talent acquisition teams to ensure a seamless transition from recruitment to onboarding
- Continuously update and refine the onboarding program to ensure that it reflects best practices and meets the needs of a changing workforce.Design and deliver content for multiple modalities including our live, virtual onboarding training, and expertly manage our elearning programs
- Manage the onboarding process, including scheduling, logistics, and communications
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts to maintain accurate content and presentation materials, and schedule their sessions of the Onboarding program
- Analyze the success of the through monthly metrics and determine where improvements or updates are needed
- Connect with the recruiting team frequently to gather insight on new hires and open requisitions in order to seamlessly engage new employees and hiring managers in the onboarding process (location and hire dates)
- Manage onboarding content in our LMS and Wiki
- Use onboarding metrics and feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and make recommendations for improvement
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time. The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
Now, it looks like IBM is eyeing the company for acquisition and Confluent looks to be a natural fit. Long positioned as the real-time backbone behind modern application, Confluent would gain global scale and an even deeper enterprise reach under iBM, while cementing its role at the center of AI-driven architectures. For COnfluent, the deal would marka shift from fast-growing independent disruptor to foundational infrastructure player powering the next wave of enterprise AI.
