Who you are
- This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record of delivering complex projects in a fast-moving, agile environment

- Experience: 10+ years as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a proven ability to deliver complex projects from concept to production in fields such as aircraft, drones, robotics, or automotive design
- Leadership & Ownership: You are a self-starter who takes full ownership of your projects and thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience using 3D CAD software (e.g., Catia V5, 3DExperience) to generate parts, assemblies, and technical drawings
- Simulation Expertise: Experience with CAE tools like Ansys to simulate mechanical performance and interpret advanced FEA models produced by our mechanical simulation team
- Hands-On & Practical: You enjoy working through challenges on the ground level and take pride in making sure that every detail of the design is right
- Collaborative Spirit: Strong communicator, eager to work with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and designers to develop world-class products
- Regulatory & Compliance: Deep understanding of certification processes (e.g., FAA, EASA) and regulatory approval, including design verification and type certification for aviation-grade products or similar
- Quality-Driven: You have an intense focus on delivering designs that meet the highest standards of safety and reliability

- We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our fast-growing aircraft design team, reporting to our Head of Mechanical Engineering at our Dublin based offices

- Lead the design and development of advanced mechanical systems for Manna’s next-generation delivery drones and ground systems
- Work closely with top engineers to bring complex projects from concept to production, setting new benchmarks for innovation and creativity
- We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of the design and development of Manna’s ultra-light, all-weather drones
- Ou’ll work across key systems such as the airframe, propulsion, avionics, ground systems, and battery, ensuring they meet high aviation standards for safety, performance, and environmental responsibility
- Lead the mechanical design and development of Manna’s next-generation drone prototypes, working closely with lead engineers across a wide range of engineering disciplines
- Deliver product design solutions that integrate and balance complex requirements, including aerodynamics, structural integrity, reliability, acoustics, thermal management, and robust electrical systems
- Own the design and validation process, creating clear documentation and procedures to support regulatory certification and safety standards
- Lead and mentor a small team of mechanical engineers, driving the development of cutting-edge systems, test plans, validation reports, and technical documentation
- Own the full product lifecycle, from concept development to testing, validation, and final production, ensuring the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance
Our take
Manna Drone Delivery is a drone company that began operating hyper-locally in Ireland, making small deliveries in partnership with JustEat, Tescos, and a number of coffee and book shops. The service has proven popular to the tune of thousands of deliveries, and Manna is now expanding towards full rollout.
Efficient, low-emission, and high agility drones are expected to be the future of last-mile deliveries. Whilst there are some questions as to whether they’re a smart addition to built up areas, the consensus is that they will at least provide a welcome complement to other delivery vehicles. As such, getting in early with the correct technology could open up substantial doors for Manna.
The company is eyeing up US expansion, which may seem ambitious for the relatively small outfit. Bear in mind, however, that Alphabet’s suburban drone delivery subsidiary Wing is carrying out similar hyper-local testing in Logan Australia. This means there’s certainly no major player emerging yet in the US - and the prime candidates are doing precisely what Manna is to get their foot in the door.
