Role
Who you are
- Experience at a senior level in content design, strategy, or UX writing role where you’ve led content design for a large digital product (ideally app-based)
- A strategic approach and practical understanding of how to advocate for and educate on inclusive and responsible content design
- Strong knowledge of inclusive and accessible content, why it’s important and how to drive change in this space. A solid understanding of WCAG standards
- Examples of where you’ve delivered large-scale end-to-end content design projects — from discovery to measurement and iteration
- A track record of influencing cultural change and enhancing the perception and maturity of content design and accessibility
- If you have experience of working closely with localisation and internationalisation teams on global project initiatives is a plus
- A love of collaboration and plenty of experience of building brilliant working relationships with wide-ranging stakeholders – from marketing to legal
- Contribute to design system documentation and inclusive design guidelines
- Comfortable working with Jira, Figma and Confluence would be a nice added extra
- You’re passionate about responsible content design, inclusivity and accessibility
- You love being part of a cross-disciplinary team, working with researchers, designers and teams from across the business
- You’re not phased by working in a fast-paced product environment with a large (and super-friendly) team
- You’re comfortable (or interested in) designing content for iOS and Android native apps, as well as web
- You champion an inclusive, user-focused perspective while having a great grasp on business needs and priorities
- You’re passionate about sharing the content love with others, bringing them along the journey with you and helping them see why it matters
- You always consider the ‘so what’ not just the ‘what’, asking the right strategic questions to make sure your work gets the right results
- You’re as comfortable writing accessibility labels and alt text as you are creating product-wide content strategies focused on safety and inclusivity
- You’re interested in safety by design: how can content design shape the way people are kept safe on our apps from the offset?

What the job involves
- Bumble is looking for a contingent worker to join us as a Senior Content Designer for a six (6) month term, to shape responsible content design for Bumble Inc apps
- You will join our Platform Design Team, and work on the world's largest dating apps used globally. Responsible Design is our comprehensive approach, encompassing inclusivity (including accessibility), safety, and ethical monetization to meet user needs while prioritizing safety, transparency, and inclusivity for all. Kindness, respect, and equity are our priorities on the app and in the workplace
- Be the main point of contact for responsible content design, working on safety, accessibility and monetisation-related projects
- Shape and facilitate accessibility content across Bumble Inc apps and lead Safety by Design initiatives
- Craft compelling narratives that foster emotional connections and trust
- Develop persuasive and emotionally resonant content that encourages customers to take specific actions, such as making a purchase, subscribing to a service, or engaging with the brand
- Make sure all content adheres to ethical standards and industry regulations
- Create content for experiences related to safety that can be implemented across our product lines
- Use behavioural design principles to create content that positively influences customer behaviour
- Analyse content performance metrics with our data team and refine content strategy based on data-driven insights
- Evolve content design standards at Bumble Inc in collaboration with other content designers
- Encourage the team to learn and implement new practises and tools continuously

Since launching in 2014, Bumble has been one of the fastest growing dating apps in the world. It now boasts over 12.3 million monthly active users, and is consistently in the top 10 of lifestyle apps in the US.
Bumble's founder was a co-founder and VP of Marketing at Tinder (she ultimately left among allegations of sexism at the company). This would have given her great insights and experience into the dating market as it began to come online - enabling the company to build for what people want.
Bumble's selling point, as it competes with a pile of other dating apps, is that is empowers women to make the first move by giving them the ability to control the conversation. This has certainly proved popular, and is no doubt one of the reasons behind its success so far.
