Who you are
- A highly professional and resilient customer service professional with experience working in a target-driven environment
- This role will involve a high level of outbound calling so you’ll be a confident communicator able to build rapport quickly
- An eye for detail - whether it’s accurate notes on every customer interaction or perfectly penned written comms

- You’ll combine empathy and resilience to ensure every customer interaction is fair, friendly and effective
- Experience in a collections or debt recovery environment is helpful but not essential
- You'll need to be available between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday
What the job involves
- As the Collections Associate, you’ll play a crucial role in minimising losses and providing exceptional customer service to our tenants, landlords and agents
- Lead outbound communication with tenants, keeping them informed of the status of their end-of-tenancy charges and collecting outstanding payments
- Contact tenants with outstanding payments to arrange payment or organise a payment plan as appropriate
- Ensure we have an accurate record of the status of all our collections accounts, keeping all documentation and electronic records in pristine condition
- Build out reporting to monitor scheduled payments and follow up with customers as required to ensure all agreed payments are made on time
- Support the commercial success of the business by reducing losses through outstanding debt
- Reduce our risk by ensuring all Collections processes are followed and SLAs met
- Help improve the Collections process as it continues to evolve by providing continual feedback and testing new approaches
Our take
The average rental deposit in the UK is over £1000, an amount that many tenants struggle to pay when moving home. Flatfair's answer to this is offering a non-refundable membership-fee equal to one-quarter the cost of a rental deposit, meaning renters don't have to take on credit card debt or borrow from family and friends to fund a deposit.
Other companies such as Goodlord and Movebubble have also tried to disrupt rentals, but it remains a hard space to crack. That said, Flatfair's approach, in which it becomes pivotal to both landlords and tenants, puts the company in a smart position to streamline processes and improve the experience, and certainly makes it an intriguing prospect in the space.
The company recently rolled out a tenant guarantor product across 1,000 Build-to-Rent homes in partnership with Heimstaden, combining it with its existing no-deposit solution to simplify tenant onboarding. As the UK rental market evolves and new regulations such as the Renters' Right Act approach, platforms that reduce friction for both renters and landlords could become increasingly important.
