Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience designing digital products
- Ability to translate ambiguous user needs to concrete requirements and turn them into comprehensive design specs
- Proven product design experience with concrete examples of iterative approaches to complex problems
- A strong sense for visual design for UI (eg. layouts, components, etc)
- Experience creating scalable and responsive patterns
- Mastery of contemporary design and prototyping tools and best practices
- Experience in contributing to design systems or experience in brand/marketing design
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Desirable
- Experience designing for SaaS, enterprise, devtools, or productivity tools
- Self-sufficient & ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
- Experience with zero-to-one projects
- Interest in or experience working on developer tools and workflows
- A good understanding of web front-end (i.e. HTML/CSS, React)
- User experience research experience (eg. user interviews, user testing, etc)
- Branding, art direction, graphic design, marketing design, or motion design experience
What the job involves
- Graphite is growing rapidly, we're looking for a senior digital product designer to help us execute on our user experience vision, bring innovative and impactful features to our users, and evolve our design system
- Lead design projects from kick-off to release
- Own key workflows across multiple product surfaces
- Have ongoing conversations with users to identify areas for improvement
- Iterate quickly with product and engineering on designs for new features
- Create pixel-perfect mockups and collaborate with engineers to implement new designs
- Contribute to and evolve our design system components and patterns
- Champion and evolve the design culture and processes at Graphite

Unlike traditional linear code review processes - where code is committed and then reviewed - Graphite allows for concurrent reviews. This enables engineers to continue working on other tasks while their code is being reviewed, leading to a much more productive workflow.
As the company continues to roll out regular performance improvements and refine its features, it has continued to expand its user base. With strong support and a growing community of users, Graphite has gained traction across even the most traditional engineering teams, and in late 2025 was acquired by AI coding assistant Cursor.
