Role
Who you are
- Been a Senior Engineer or you're ready to take that leap
- Experience with comprehensive testing strategies for backend systems
- Deep backend design expertise with a broad understanding of api and service design
- Effective skills in communicating complex technical concepts
- Experience with AWS infrastructure / DevOps
- Experience building data pipelines is a plus
- Experience with Node applications is a plus
- Experience with the Hapi framework is a plus
- Strong opinions on the right way to build software. We’ll expect to hear them from day 1

What the job involves
- In the next 12 months, we will:
- Grow from teaching 2,500 lessons/month to 10,000 lessons/month
- Turn our companion app into the best place on earth for musicians to practice
- Create an initial web presence for our scheduling and subscription tools
- Build the vast set of internal and backend tools needed to achieve the above
- You will be the third backend engineer. That means working closely with our engineers, product manager, our teachers, our sales team, and our students to build and maintain both customer facing and internal applications. You will take initiative and expand test coverage in critical areas

Our take
Trala is an online music school, for now focussed on the violin, that aims to empower people across the globe to learn an instrument and achieve their music-making goals.
With Trala, students are matched with a teacher who aligns to their learning objectives, and they can book flexible lessons that fit around their schedule. The company says that the "Trala Method", based on a curriculum made by "rockstars and concertmasters", is best for absolute beginners or those returning to an instrument after a long break, but stress that it has value for all ages and abilities.
The company has seen impressive investment that has supported it in early expansion and development, and the app has been downloaded over 400,000 times. Further funding will see the company continue to expand its core violin learning offering, whilst exploring additional instrument options for the future.
