Role
Who you are
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Information Technology or related field OR successful completion of a coding bootcamp OR have 6+ years of professional Software Engineering experience
- 6+ years of professional Software Engineering Experience
- Experience building web applications from end to end
- Solid understanding of relational databases and best practices is a plus
- Experience building rich web based UIs with modern frameworks is a plus
- A desire to be part of a product, customer-facing team with excellent collaboration skills
- A desire to write well documented and tested code
What the job involves
- Work with other Software Engineers, Product Managers and designers on a product team that develops customer-facing software
- Develop solutions across our various business domains: Ecommerce, Operations and Fulfillment, Research and Development and Clinical Trials
- Build and release code multiple times throughout the day with proper testing and documentation in place
- Learn and understand our customer problems and contribute to our planning and roadmapping process with your ideas
- Become a subject matter expert in part(s) of our business and leverage that knowledge for both your own development and the company’s
- Help establish engineering best practices that will become the backbone of how we do our work for years to come
Our take
Seed Health is a microbial company that researches, develops and sells probiotic supplements to boost gastrointestinal, dermatological oral, pediatric and nutritional health.
The last decade has seen a renewed focus on probiotics, and gut health in particular, with scores of companies bringing supplements to market. However the efficacy of many of these are still shrouded in doubt, and lacking in insightful scientific research. Seed appears committed to upping (and setting) the standard. The company’s chief scientist, Dr. Gregor Reid, is a global authority in microbial sciences, having chaired the UN-WHO panel that first defined the term “probiotics”. On top of this, the company’s advisory board comes with a strong resume in microbiology, immunology, genetics, metabolomics, gastroenterology, pediatrics, environmental sciences and women’s health.
The next big step for Seed Health will be to rise above an already crowded marketplace while continuing R&D for new product categories, with a particular focus on AI applications. Substantial funding in 2021 alongside stable profitability and the fostering of groundbreaking partnerships with the likes of the Swiss Institute of Allergy prove it is turning heads in the science sector.
