- Ability to understand product needs and user expectations to ensure high-quality experiences
- Hands-on experience with automation testing frameworks for UI and API testing. Experience with Playwright is a plus
- Familiarity with API testing methodologies, including designing, executing, and validating API tests using tools like Postman
- Ideally have some experience with non-functional testing
- Experience working within an Agile development process
- Exposure to continuous integration environments
- Passion for continuous improvement and enhancing the development and troubleshooting process
- Fluency in English, our working language

What the job involves
- We are looking for a QA Engineer to help take Qustodio to the next level, making it a best-in-class solution for digital well-being in families and schools
- As a key member of one of our new engineering teams, you will collaborate with engineers worldwide to build innovative, high-quality solutions
- Ensure software solutions work as expected, improving the customer experience and building confidence in the product
- Design, develop, and execute manual test cases, prioritizing and planning testing activities
- Manage and support the creation of manual and automated tests for user stories, smoke, and regression suites
- Collaborate with your colleagues in QA and work closely with engineering, product, and customer success teams across multiple locations
- Conduct exploratory testing to push product boundaries and ensure customer expectations are met
- Identify and document defects, assess their impact, and report on software release quality
- Create automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript for front-end and API testing
- Always strive for continuous improvement to ensure we are consistently moving towards better outcomes
- The tech stack you will be involved in will depend on the domain you work in, providing plenty of opportunities for growth and development. Our cloud-based platform (GCP & AWS) includes:
- Backend RESTful services written in Go, Python
- Frontend client-side apps using React
- Multi-Platform Applications in Go & TypeScript deployed across laptops
- DevOps & Orchestration with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Run
- GitHub, trunk-based development, GitOps, Cloud Deploy

Our take
With the rise of social media and mobile-first platforms, the risk of online threats and health issues resulting from screen time has ballooned. Children are one of the most at-risk groups, and this has led to a doubling down of efforts to develop mitigation and protection measures. Parental control software has consequently become a key market showing higher-than-anticipated growth that looks set to accelerate going forwards. Tech startup Qustodio has its sights set on becoming a major player.
Qustodio’s parental control tools make for a robust offering. They reduce the threats children are exposed to online, filter and monitor children’s browsing habits, and help instil healthy habits regarding device usage. Crucially, it is one of the few parental control solutions that still offers call and text monitoring. This is an important edge, as competition is otherwise incredibly tight between Qustodio and rivals like NetNanny or Kapersky.
Qustodio, like all major players in the space, will have to contend with the growing concern that the comprehensive permissions it requires leave users open to data privacy breaches. However, this is an area that the industry is working hard to improve on. In 2022, Qustodio was acquired for $52 million by Qoria, formerly Family Zone, an Australian cyber-safety for students platform. This will bolster Qustodio's global reach.
