Who you are
- The ability to independently own projects from inception to delivery (i.e. plan and gather requirements, collaborate with Product, Design, Engineers)

- Fluency in a system level language such as Go, C++, Java, C#, or Rust. Knowing a specific language isn’t important; what matters is that you’ve become fluent in one by spending a lot of time on the types of projects where these languages are used
What the job involves
- The Chronosphere Logging product delivers real-time, structured insights into the behavior and performance of systems and applications
- Built for scale and reliability, it empowers our customers’ engineering teams to quickly detect, diagnose, and resolve issues before they impact end-users
- We are looking for an experienced engineer who has worked on large scale distributed systems and has a proven track record of solving complex technical problems and is looking to work on a product development team
- Design, implement, and ship enhancements and new features to core product capabilities using Go, deployed on Kubernetes across cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP
- Design, implement, and deliver complex product features that address key customer pain points, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—including product management, design, and engineering—to ensure alignment and impact throughout the development lifecycle
- Execute upholding reliability and software quality standards
- Collaborate and shape the architectural and technical roadmap to support scalability, performance, and long-term product vision
- Work closely with talented engineers in a fast-paced environment that fosters accelerated learning, continuous growth, and career development
- In the first 3 months, you will build a deep understanding of Chronosphere’s logs product and learn about the domain, our customers’ needs, the underlying technology and how we deliver changes
- You will start to contribute changes to our product in a manner that enables you to learn quickly
- You will build relationships by working closely with your team
- After 3 months, you will independently own features on our roadmap from scoping all the way to delivery to production
- You will partner with product, design and other engineers, as need be to deliver these projects
- You will start to build relationships across teams

Our take
As companies switch to cloud-native strategies, the main problem they face is how to store, keep track of and analyse data in real-time. Chronosphere offers scalable cloud monitoring services custom-built for managing cloud-native infrastructure and apps.
The company is entering a field that is on the rise, albeit crowded with both startups and leaders like Microsoft Cloud Monitoring and Amazon Cloudwatch. Chronosphere's edge likely lies in the cost efficiency of their service, and what seems a relatively transparent billing model. In addition, the founders are using Chronosphere to continue developing their open-source metrics engine M3.
This open-source product has proven a draw for both investors and customers, even when up against tech industry giants. The company's significant growth and funding (most recently from CrowdStrike) efforts have resulted in a $1.6bn valuation, Chronosphere has managed to remain highly competitive in a rapidly expanding market as it further optimizes its product.
