Role
Who you are
- As well as being an expert in cloud platform, you’ll have a strong background in Data Ingestion and Integration, designing and implementing ETL pipelines on various technologies, data quality monitoring and a rounded understanding of data operations
- Data Architecture Mastery: We’re seeking a candidate with a robust understanding of data architecture principles, databases, data modelling, and data structures. Experience with various technologies within AWS and Snowflake
- Data Product Development: The successful candidate will play a pivotal role within our data engineering team, working collaboratively to develop and maintain data products that meet business needs. This includes understanding the industry, company objectives, and how data can be harnessed to create valuable data products
- Communication Excellence: Our data architect will need to articulate complex data concepts and product strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Therefore, exceptional communication and presentation skills are vital
- Problem-Solving Skills: We need a strategic thinker who can identify, analyse, and resolve challenges that arise in the design and implementation of data architecture and the development of data products
- Project Leadership: As a data architect, you will often lead data product development projects. Therefore, skills in project management, including planning, organizing, and managing resources, are crucial

With 18 million international customers, Aviva is the largest provider of insurance and leading life and pension funds in the UK. With a history that dates back to the founding of Hand in Hand Fire & Life Insurance Society in 1696, Aviva’s current form is thanks to a merger between Norwich Union and CGU plc in the year 2000.
Over the noughties, Aviva grew its market out to Europe and established a high-profile foothold in America thanks to the most expensive advertising campaign of the time that included celebrities Alice Cooper and Bruce Willis. Into the 2010s, the insurance broker was forced to restructure and close a large number of its non-core businesses in a bid to increase its shareholder returns and streamline its focus.
