Who you are
- Individuals who excel in this role must have the ability to prospect and work with the partner ecosystem to develop qualified opportunities and close business in a timely manner while staying focused on the client’s requirements
- If you are an energetic, self-managed professional with experience managing complex sales processes and a strong track record of meeting or exceeding your sales quota, we’d love to hear from you
- 10+ years of full-cycle, consultative sales experience selling software or cloud-based solutions to mid-market and large-scale telecommunications companies (cable, MNOs, FiberCos, and wireline service providers)
- Background in cloud, ICT, software, or SaaS is preferred; experience selling to broadband ISPs/service providers
- Strong knowledge of the telecom ecosystem, including CPE vendors and suppliers (e.g., OEMs, ODMs, chip suppliers, and channel partners)
- Proven success in consistently achieving or exceeding a $1M+ ARR quota
- Strong track record of driving pipeline, maintaining high activity levels, and closing deals
- Skilled at identifying customer needs and presenting tailored solutions
- Proactive, independent, and highly motivated with a positive attitude
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory and occasionally across the United States and Canada
- Experience using established sales methodologies such as Strategic Selling, Challenger, or SPIN
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, early-stage company without high levels of structure or bureaucracy
What the job involves
- The Sales Director is responsible for building client relationships within a specified segment
- The person in this position should have the ability and confidence to close deals and work with the customer success organization to ensure ongoing client support
- This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Sales Americas

- Use your industry knowledge to develop a sales plan for your region and assigned accounts
- Achieve sales quotas for allocated accounts on a quarterly and annual basis by developing a sales strategy in the assigned territory with a target prospect list and regional sales plan
- Develop marketing plans with the marketing team to drive revenue growth
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers by understanding their existing and future IT roadmaps to drive the Plume solution within the marketplace
- Qualify prospects, build new opportunities, and develop ongoing revenue streams
- Arrange and conduct initial executive and CxO discussions and positioning meetings
- Own and manage the full sales process through to close
- Provide ongoing account management to ensure customer satisfaction and identify further revenue opportunities
- Apply a consultative, solution-based sales approach, manage complex sales cycles, and demonstrate strong presentation, listening, and organizational skills
Our take
Smart devices within the home have become the norm, but Plume Design believes that this influx of revolutionary home tech is only as smart as the networks that support them. With many issues concerning smart devices, treatment is reliant on generic WiFi, unsafe networks, and expensive analysis. Plume Design remedies this with cloud-controlled internet platforms that are defined by the needs of the devices that use them.
With home office setups now the norm, Plume has fast become a necessary service for many small businesses and casual users. Its smart Wi-Fi networks are ground-level products upon which Plume offers more smart home services and it now has more than a billion devices on its network.
With substantial funding behind it, Plume’s post-COVID surge in business was one thing, but keeping up the momentum throughout the 2020s is quite another. Time will tell if the company can continue on its upward trajectory. But as long as it keeps its networks fresh (as it did in 2022 through its partnership with opensync software agent SamKnows), it shouldn’t have a problem as it scales up.
