Role
Who you are
- Proven experience as a Staff or Principal Engineer, with a track record of designing and implementing data intensive solutions
- Experience in a backend software engineering role
- Strong experience working with event based architecture with strong proficiency with Kafka
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Kotlin
- Strong experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and proficiency in SQL and JOOQ Query Generation
- Experience of working in an event-driven architecture environment and cloud platforms (e.g, AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with data governance and security best practices
What the job involves
- This role sits in our reporting and analytics function
- You will take a lead role in building the latest version of a product that allows our customers to report and visualize their key employee/HR data
- Analytical Product Development: Design, develop and maintain a robust scalable analytical product to deliver a best in class experience for our customers
- Data Modeling: Experience of building data models (logical domain models) observing data integrity and ensuring consistency. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and design appropriate data representations
- Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance improvements in backend services to ensure a responsive experience is provided to the customers.
- Data Security and Governance: Implement and enforce data security measures and governance policies to protect sensitive information. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers and software engineers, to understand their functional needs and provide timely and accurate support
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for engineering processes and system architecture
- Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in engineering. Apply this knowledge to enhance and evolve our product offering and infrastructure
