Who you are
- This role is ideal for someone who thrives on ownership, technical excellence, and delivering business impact
- 8+ years of professional experience in backend-heavy engineering roles, ideally with a full-stack perspective
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; deep familiarity with API design and scalable backend patterns
- Proven track record leading technical direction or architecture in complex distributed systems
- Strong experience with SQL and other data stores, including designing schemas and optimising performance
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks (Angular, React, or similar) and ability to collaborate effectively on end-to-end features
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; fluent in English
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Staff Full-Stack Engineer (Backend-Focused) to drive the evolution of our hybrid workplace experience platform
- As a senior technical leader, you will be instrumental in shaping the architecture, setting technical direction, and ensuring the delivery of high-impact features for the core product of deskbird
- You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead by example in code and design, and mentor engineers across the stack
- Act as a technical leader in a cross-functional squad responsible for our core product, including floor plans, desk booking, and week planning. You will be driving initiatives and features across the entire stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure), with a primary focus on backend systems and architecture
- Design and develop APIs, services, and automations that power our platform used by 150,000+ users
- Drive architectural decisions, establish technical standards, and promote engineering best practices both in your squad and org-wide
- Lead or support critical initiatives such as event-driven architecture, service decomposition, performance optimisation, and future tech stack evolution
- Remain hands-on, contributing significantly to various codebases to model engineering excellence

The company has adopted a unique approach to workplace management, offering the first workplace software built around users instead of buildings. Along with standard functionalities like booking resources, the tool that has brought the company unique success is the ability, via mobile app, to identify who of their employees are in the office and thereby schedule meetings accordingly.
Following 2023 funding, the company will invest capital into extending reach across European markets, entering the US market, and to allow expansion of its product offerings. The company's 10 year plan is to be to workforce management what Salesforce is to CRM. A lofty goal, but the company is certainly setting itself up to achieve this in due time.
