Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of software or platform engineering experience, ideally in high-performance systems
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g., Ruby, Python, or Go)
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, caching, and database optimization
- Hands-on experience with performance profiling, load testing, and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with AWS or other cloud infrastructure providers
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Platform Performance Engineer to join our Product Platform Engineering team. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of optimizing the reliability and performance of Point’s platform
- You’ll identify and resolve system-level bottlenecks, develop tools and frameworks for performance monitoring, and collaborate with product teams to ensure seamless scalability and efficiency across our systems
- This is a highly cross-functional role where your work will directly enhance the stability and speed of the technology that supports Point’s core business
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks across distributed systems, APIs, and databases
- Build and maintain internal tools, frameworks, and dashboards that measure and improve system performance
- Collaborate with product engineering teams to design and implement scalable, efficient solutions
- Establish and promote performance best practices across the engineering organization
- Contribute to improving CI/CD pipelines and observability for faster, more reliable deployments
- Participate in and run incident response and conduct root cause analyses with long-term remediation strategies

Point provides property financing by providing a share of a homeowner's equity in advance to fund the purchase of a new home. The startup evaluates the finances of an applicant and purchases their property, obtaining a stake in the property if it is sold within ten years.
Point claims to prevent its customers from taking on crippling debt to fund a property purchase, and has helped nearly 10,000 homeowners across the United States. The company expanded from 16 to 28 total geographies in 2024, followed by a commitment to $2.5 billion in home equity investments in 2025.
