Role
Who you are
- A Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of experience, ideally in robotics, automation or a related field
- A graduate of a bachelor’s or master's program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Experienced with prototyping and testing of mechanical systems
- Adept at communicating complex concepts and writing technical documents
- Experience evaluating design, performance and logistical tradeoffs for hardware systems
- Able to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Experienced with manufacturing processes, such as CNC machining, 3D printing, or injection molding
- Willing and able to work from our Cambridge, MA office at least 3 days per week
What the job involves
- Pickle is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven Mechanical Engineer to revolutionize the future of warehouse automation
- In this role, you’ll ensure the continued excellence and reliability of our cutting-edge robotic systems. You’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our hardware systems, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement
- By collaborating closely with our software and hardware teams, you’ll ensure our robots deliver unmatched performance and evolve as the company grows
- Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production
- Conduct simulations, testing, and prototyping to validate designs
- Perform structural analysis, material selection, and stress testing for robot components
- Create detailed technical drawings, CAD models, and documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during design, production, and deployment
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control processes
- Support production teams in scaling and improving manufacturing processes for robotics hardware
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in robot performance and reliability

Pickle Robot was founded in 2018 to tackle an array of warehouse challenges, finding focus in the labor-intensive truck unloading space. Its pioneering industrial robots are built with AI and computer vision alongside advanced sensor technology, allowing them to perform intelligent unloading tasks at speed. This enables people to work quicker and smarter, whilst also avoiding the high risks of injury and fast turnaround associated with the sector.
Pickle Robot has raised significant funding to support go-to-market activities and improve its deployment capabilities. In 2024 it secured orders that represent the first stage of this commercial expansion, and the company also plans to invest in new feature sets in the near future.
