Role
Who you are
- Three or more years experience as an analyst or other relevant experience
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to present complex data insights clearly
- Attention to detail and consistent self-review practices
- Eye for aesthetically pleasing visuals and user-friendly dashboard design
- Proficiency with SQL and experience working within cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform and AWS)
- Ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders across various departments
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following technologies:
- Python for data analysis and automation
- Google Analytics for web and user behavior analysis
- Cloud Platforms (Google Cloud Platform and AWS)
- ElasticSearch for data search and analytics
- Kibana for data visualization and monitoring
- Tableau for business intelligence and reporting
Desirable
- Experience with E-Commerce or Game Monetization analytics
- Advanced experience with cloud platform services including BigQuery (GCP) and Redshift (AWS) for large dataset analysis
- Familiarity with additional data processing tools such as Spark, Athena, Redshift, Jupyter Notebooks
- Experience with design and project management tools (Figma, JIRA)
- Degree in relevant fields (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Business, Economics, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Big Data projects and cloud-native analytics solutions
- Background in gaming industry analytics or live service game data analysis
- Experience with data pipeline automation and cloud platform data workflows (GCP and AWS)
What the job involves
- Our Data Solutions team serves as the analytical backbone that transforms complex gaming data into actionable insights for our development, marketing, and sales teams
- The Data Analyst will leverage cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform and AWS) and other advanced analytics tools to analyze website analytics, internal performance metrics, and live game data to drive improvements in sales, game stability, and player engagement
- Working within our cloud-first environment, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and performance while delivering clear, data-driven insights that shape the future of our gaming experiences
- You'll connect designers and engineers with visualizations of the data they produce, audit data storage and collection, build data processing jobs, and provide actionable insights through dashboards and reports to promote data-driven decisions
- Design, build, and maintain dashboards, visualizations and reports
- Audit metrics for malformed/unoptimized data
- Design and implement automation jobs for transformation and aggregation
- Collaborate with stakeholders and translate their requests to actionable results
- Highlight trends that can provide marketing and sales insight
- Educate analytics consumers on usage of data visualization software
- Prepare regular reports on sales and marketing performance
- Identify areas for improvement of visual reporting
- Continual education in new technologies and methodologies
Our take
Cloud Imperium Games is an independent game company that specializes in immersive storytelling. It is currently developing a highly anticipated PC space simulation game, Star Citizen, initially funded by a crowdfunding campaign, as well as Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player sidekick to Star Citizen staring the likes of Mark Hamill and Gillian Anderson.
Originally announced in 2012 and 2014, neither title has received an official release date. The appeal for backers, who have contributed over $500 million to the crowdfunding campaign, is that the games exist outside the norms of modern game development, and that the company seems to have stuck to its initial plans and trajectory rather than adapting towards an earlier release.
The company announced plans to increase operations and headcount across the years from 2022 to 2027, which could suggest a release date at the end of this 5-year plan. The fans remain engaged for now, but the company runs the risk of frustrating and alienating their donators and target audience the longer they have to wait. And bad press surrounding management at the company is unlikely to help.
