Role
Who you are
- Expert in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and native Android development, with experience building all areas of complex consumer applications
- Expert in delivering beautiful, world-class user experiences within the Android ecosystem
- Ability to write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability
- Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers
- Excellent communication and teaching skills; able to teach others technical concepts
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval
- Ability to take ambiguous requirements in complex domains and distill them down into actionable tasks
- 5+ years of experience building native Android apps with Kotlin and Java
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, related field or equivalent related professional experience

- Hands-on experience building Android apps at scale
- Experience fast-paced startups
- Experience launching applications internationally
- Expertise in other languages and frameworks, particularly GraphQL and Python
What the job involves
- This is a unique opportunity to help improve our main Android application using the latest code and architecture offerings, to modernize this key part of our product
- Build features to improve our Android application, a key company asset built on the latest and greatest technologies
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand the needs of the application and establish a technical plan for executing on the project
- Follow best practices and architecture design to develop features which will be easily maintainable and extensible for years to come
- Break down complex product tasks into iterative milestones with a focus on rapid experimentation
- Mentor other engineers, collaborate, and help power a high-performance engineering team

Music distribution services provide ways for musical artists to release their music in both digital and physical formats. However, musicians usually don't retain the often lucrative rights to audio masters and audience insights, and merchandising and concert tickets must be organised elsewhere.
UnitedMasters is a music distribution service that acts as a direct pipeline for musicians and their commercial efforts. The service allows users to retain the rights to audio masters and audience data, in addition to providing a platform for the sale of merchandise and concert tickets. The platform’s aim is to give artists full control over the monetization of their music based on a regular subscription cost.
UnitedMasters has attracted significant backing from heavyweights like Apple, a16z, and Alphabet, while securing partnerships with platforms like Bose, TikTok, and Twitch. More than just validation, these relationships expand how artists can be discovered, promoted and monetized at scale - opening doors to major commercial and record deal opportunities that go well beyond the reach of traditional distribution platforms.
