- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
- 1+ years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in the logistics or financial services industry
- 1+ years of experience cold-calling sales/business development experience
- Experience using a CRM (ex: Salesforce) to handle daily activities and manage customer outreach
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle time efficiently
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including a strong phone presence
- Ability to work well in a high-energy, high-paced team environment
- Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and operate in ambiguity
- Ability to adapt, grow and evolve, overcoming roadblocks and quickly moving from own prospect to the next
What the job involves
- The Business Development Representative is responsible for identifying, qualifying and developing new business opportunities for TruckSmarter’s growing factoring business
- As a Business Development Representative, you will work closely with our outbound sales teams and play a critical part of our ability to identify, qualify and serve our customers
- This role is a great opportunity for phone-based sales associates with a competitive spirit and eagerness to learn about TruckSmarter’s fast growing product set and the freight landscape to develop their sales and tech careers
- You’ll be a part of a team that is evolving every day and requires highly motivated individuals who are responsible for driving revenue through strategic outreach and relationship building
- Identify and qualify new prospective clients to fuel the pipeline for Sales Development Representatives
- Stay up-to-date on logistics industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to factoring and alternative financing solutions
- Manage, track, and report on all sales activities and results using Salesforce
- Hit assigned Key Performance Metrics specific to this role and the broader success of the Sales teams
- Collaborate with the Sales Development Representatives and Sales Operations teams to refine outreach strategies and identify opportunities to improve conversion and drive growth
- Develop efficient and repeatable methods for reaching the decision-makers at those prospective new accounts

The trucking industry has been historically fragmented, with truckers wasting countless hours searching for their next gig, followed by more time waiting to be loaded or unloaded – which can be very detrimental to truckers who are often paid per mile. Trucksmarter digital trucking platform addresses all these problems. It stands out from the competition by being a free-to-use service. And it makes its revenue by offering truckers same-day payments for each load, in exchange for a small percentage of their fee, rather than charging to use the load board itself.
TruckSmarter has raised an impressive amount of funding from top investors and names in the industry, showing respect for and interest in its solution. Its most recent funding is being heavily funneled into research, development, and talent to push further into the field of AI.
On top of this, the company was recently acquired by OTR Solutions, a move that allows TruckSmarter to sharpen its focus and accelerate investment in AI-driven freight intelligence and automation. By transitioning its factoring and banking operations to OTR, TruckSmarter is ready to move faster on product development and concentrate on building smarter load discovery and dispatch tools.
