Who you are
- You have a passion for brand and creativity with strong creative judgement and the ability to challenge and drive ideas
- You’ve cut your teeth in brand, marketing strategy, or advertising roles, both in-house and at an agency
- You will have developed a substantial working knowledge of brand strategy, planning, creative, activation and effectiveness
- You are a strong strategic thinker with a proven track record in delivering great outcomes - you know what it takes to deliver projects of all shapes and sizes
- You’re a brilliant communicator and are known to be a persuasive presenter, used to building support for ideas and initiatives amongst a wide range of personality types
- As a leader, you are able to inspire and energise stakeholders and the broader organisation behind your ideas. In a team. you work hard to inspire your colleagues and go out of your way to understand what makes them tick
- You champion professionalism and rigour, deliver broad programmes of work with excellence and have a strong eye for detail. Accordingly you have a first class track record of managing media activity and budgetary control
What the job involves
- The Brand Director is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of brand strategy, development and creative execution within UW
- Our UW brand needs to enable us to take the lead in this mission and to support our partners taking out our story into their local communities - a challenge which is not for the faint-hearted
- This role leads a team of ~30 brand and creative professionals and manages a substantial budget, overseeing the creation and activation of a consistent and compelling brand identity across all channels and touchpoints
- Reporting into the Chief Growth Officer, the Brand Director will shape all aspects of our brand identity and proposition, influencing executive and non-executive stakeholders
- You will be our executive brand champion, and will work closely with cross functional teams to ensure that the delivery of strong growth outcomes and broader cultural alignment is powerfully supported through all aspects of how we deliver our UW brand proposition
- Brand strategy and management: lead, define and own our brand strategy and architecture
- Budget management: develop and manage the brand and creative budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, cost effective execution of projects. and return on investment
- Brand performance measurement: define and track brand performance metrics, conduct market research, analyse data and derive actionable insights to inform brand strategy and decision making
- Team leadership: lead, grow and inspire a team of designers, copywriters and other creative professionals to deliver excellence through collaboration and innovation
- Campaign development: lead the development of brand marketing campaigns across a range of channels
- Media strategy: build the media strategy and channel mix for brand campaign activity and drive the media planning process to ensure effective return on investment
- Insight development and analysis: drive a focus on utilising data and insight to understand target audiences, market positioning and competitive differentiation. Add texture, precision and depth to our understanding of our target audience and share that insight with the wider business
- Creative process: enable the creative teams to deliver brilliant creative output; including campaigns, marketing collateral, digital assets, website design, merchandise and other brand materials
- Brand messaging: develop, own and maintain a clear and compelling brand narrative, value proposition, and key messages that resonate with target audiences
- UW brand Identity & experience: ensure UW’s brand identity elements are applied consistently and coherently across all brand touchpoints. Lead the activation of our brand strategy - continuing to build out the self service model across UW where appropriate and working with the People team to create a powerful employer brand and employee experience
- Brand ambassador: own the relationship with Ben Fogle, our UW brand ambassador, and manage the relationship with his team Become the internal champion for the UW brand, and the go-to for colleagues on all aspects of bringing our brand to life, and shape the way that Partners represent UW
