Role
Who you are
- Significant experience translating marketing strategy into tactical delivery plans by channel, audience, and budget
- Significant experience planning and delivering multi-channel campaigns that meet campaign KPIs
- Strong understanding of end-to-end audience journeys and the role of different channels in fully integrated campaign
- Relevant experience of managing and motivating agencies to drive maximum value from relationships
- Relevant management experience with proven leadership skills and the ability to manage competing priorities for yourself and others
- Data-driven with a strong understanding of UX principles and relevant experience of interpreting results and recommending opportunities for optimisation
- Relevant experience of developing highly effective campaign assets for use across channels
- Excellent project management skills including resource and risk management
What the job involves
- We have an opportunity to join our team responsible for marketing Cancer Research UK’s Individual Giving fundraising campaigns, which raises on average around £80 million for our life saving research each year
- You will support the Senior Manager to develop the product marketing strategy, plan, and budget to achieve the Individual Giving objectives
- You will manage the delivery of the product marketing plan, meeting KPIs, to time and budget
- This role you will be working closely with teams across the organisation to deliver marketing campaigns that support the growth and retention of supporters to products across our full Individual Giving portfolio
- This role will involve matrix management so we are looking for someone who is confident allocating tasks and can motivate a team to deliver excellent marketing campaigns
- Support the Senior Manager to translate the Fundraising & Marketing operating plan and budget into a product marketing plan and budget
- Define and develop the audiences and product offerings that need activating as part of this marketing plan and manage the development and delivery of cross-channel integrated briefs
- Manage the planning, set-up, delivery, and analysis of integrated multi-channel campaigns that meet and exceed specific product KPIs
- Manage the content and creative production, testing and optimisation process, ensuring campaign assets are fully aligned with Brand messaging and other communications themes
- Work alongside the Senior Manager to motivate the Executives and matrix manage specialist Digital Marketing & Delivery teams to deliver activity across channels
- Collaborate with teams across Audience & Product Marketing to identify and implement strategic marketing opportunities and ensure holistic supporter journeys for product audiences
- Work with digital and data experts from across marketing and the wider organisation to improve communications and better engage our audiences
- Manage the continuous testing and analysis of campaigns, spotting opportunities to optimise ongoing activity and making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of future campaigns
- Work with the Insight team and Senior Marketing Performance Manager to drive development of the marketing strategy and feed learnings into the planning process

The world’s largest independent cancer research charity, Cancer Research UK (CRUK) was founded from a merger between the Cancer Research Campaign and the Cancer Research Fund in 2002. CRC and ICRF had been long-standing pinnacles of the British medical institution, their work dating back to 1902 and 1923 respectively, and the merger signalled a strong step forward for UK medical institutes’ global influence.
A multi-armed charity, CRUK uses both grant-funded researchers and its own employed staff to research the treatments and causes of cancer, whilst its striking advertising and marketing campaigns are responsible for influencing public policy on the causes, prevention, and treatment of the disease. An example of a significant public campaign was Stoptober, which appeared to have triggered a third of a million smokers at the time to try quit tobacco throughout the month of October.
Alongside its pharmaceutical efforts, in 2023 CRUK funded clinical trials for the first-ever proton beam therapy for breast cancer, indicating a focus on technological innovations in the fight against cancer. On this subject, CRUK has also taken part in a billion-pound investment in the Francis Crick Institute, a biomedical research institute that is aiming to make England an international leader in the industry.
