Who you are

7+ years of Software Development experience at a SaaS or technology company
Experience with Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) (microservices)
Experience with a Monolith to Services architectural rebuild
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems to identify root causes and implement effective mitigations and resolutions
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and propose new solutions or improvements that align with organizational goals
Ability to adapt to new technologies, changing requirements, and evolving organizational needs
A drive to craft clean, reliable and maintainable code
Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours

What the job involves

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will bring deep technical know-how, architectural wisdom and enthusiasm to our team
You will report to one of our Engineering Managers and will be responsible for supporting features and architecture designed to maintain our users’ confidence in Calendly
The Calendly platform is a monolith that is being decomposed into various services in order for us to scale our platform and team
We need ambitious, experienced engineers who can help us drive this stage of growth
As an engineer at Calendly, you will both build new features and work to scale our platform and architecture
You will build tooling and automation to fine tune our delivery process as you grow into a service oriented specialist
You will also learn to work with multiple technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Rails, NodeJS, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, to name a few

Our take

Calendly is a cloud-based scheduling service that is straightforward to use. It allows around 10 million customers per month to connect and make appointments based on their available times without having to send emails back and forth.

The platform offers four different plans - allowing individuals, small companies, and large enterprises alike to make use of these services. Calendly's growth to date been based mostly around a very organic strategy. Its invites become links to Calendly itself, so people who like it can, and do, start to use it.

There are a handful of competing products on the market, including offerings from Doodle and Microsoft, but Calendly's customer-friendly design has won it attention and allowed it to carve itself a space in the field. Impressive funding has contributed to the company's expansion, allowing it to capitalize on the increasing popularity of home and hybrid working.
