Role
Who you are
- Experience with building cloud-native modern web apps with React that leverage a REST API with webhook based back-channels
- The ability to bridge the why with the engineering side, discuss tradeoffs and proactively suggest ideas, aka a strong product engineering mindset
- Proficiency with TypeScript and Node.js ecosystems
- Go proficiency (for the backend parts) or a strong willingness to learn
- Strong work ethic and principles such as pragmatism
- A focus on code quality, extensibility, regression and E2E testing
- Practical experience with Docker and CI/CD
- Prior experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL
Desirable
- Experience working in the Fintech domain
- Experience building web apps in the B2B or backend operations space
- Experience with React-based web application frameworks, e.g. Next.js
- Experience with testing framework, e.g Cypress, Puppeteer, Playwright, Datadog Synthetics
What the job involves
- We are seeking a full-time Fullstack Engineer to help us build a securities API for financial institutions, the first such API in Europe
- You’ll be part of the team that designs, develops, and maintains our External Service Panel
- The External Service Panel is a brand new product that will amend our Investment API offering by providing self-service customer support to scale with our enterprise expansion and enable further sales growth in the enterprise area
- The External Service Panel team will design, build and operate the new product offering, providing a great operator experience in a regulated cloud environment, with security and auditability as first-class citizens
- Make an impact by contributing xto a completely new fullstack product based on our Investment API that will enable Upvest to massively expand its growth
- Design and build easy-to-use, low friction tools focussed on self-service to enable efficient day-to-day operations for our clients
- Deliver quality fast and often. We embrace an agile methodology with a retrospective and demo at the end of the two-week cycle
Our take
Upvest is a fintech startup that empowers financial services companies to provide their customers with access to a full range of financial assets, including stocks, ETFs and crypto products. Upvest's investment API integrates seamlessly with its customers existing systems and is designed to scale easily, freeing companies from the need to develop their own brokerage and custody infrastructure from scratch.
As one of the few companies in Germany that is licensed for both the custody of traditional securities and crypto, Upvest is able to provide its services across Europe. Its solution has been readily adopted by some major players in the space including Ginmon, Vivid and ABN AMRO.
Upvest is backed by a number of Europe's largest tech VCs (Earlybird, Notion Capital, Partech, HV Capital, ABN AMRO Ventures) alongside American investment monolith BlackRock. In 2023, it closed a VC investment round, which the company has claimed is one of the largest in the German fintech arena. This was followed up by an impressive Series C at the end of 2024, which is being used to grow its team, enhance its product and cement its presence in the UK.
