Who you are
- Modern Development: Embrace AI tools where they add genuine value, from coding assistance to automated testing
- Async-First Communication: Thoughtful documentation (Slack, Notion, Loom), with focused in-person collaboration 2-3 days per week in our Denver office
- Build-Measure-Learn: Rapid prototyping with early validation, comfortable failing fast and iterating
- Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward experimentation and learning
- Great collaboration and communication across engineering, product, and design teams
- Commitment to code quality, documentation, and building systems that actually work

- Understanding of AI/ML workflows, LLMs, and autonomous agent architectures preferred

What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer at Pax8 Labs, you will build autonomous AI agents that fundamentally change how small businesses operate
- This is largely uncharted territory - we're pioneering new approaches to agent architecture, multi-system coordination, and real-world AI deployment
- You'll work on cutting-edge problems while building systems that will reach thousands of partners through Pax8's marketplace platform
- We're exploring how autonomous software agents can transform business operations, from MSP automation to workflow orchestration to intelligent process capture
- Working closely with our Engineering Manager, Technical Fellow, and cross-functional team, you'll tackle hard technical problems in autonomous agent systems, helping to define both the technology and the engineering culture as we scale
- Build scalable backend services and APIs for autonomous AI agent systems
- Integrate and deploy AI models and machine learning frameworks in production
- Design agent orchestration systems that coordinate multiple specialized agents
- Write high-quality code with comprehensive testing, code reviews, and system optimization
- Collaborate with ML/AI engineers to deploy and optimize agent capabilities
- Work closely with product and design teams to build intuitive user experiences for complex AI
- Build reusable libraries and frameworks to enhance team productivity
- Evaluate emerging technologies and help make architectural decisions
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to our learning culture

However, managing subscriptions to cloud products can be a convoluted process unique to each software product, presenting the need for a unified accessibility solution.
Pax8 provides an online marketplace for cloud-based software, allowing businesses to order, bill, manage, and provision cloud products within a single place. The marketplace contains a curated catalogue of cloud providers, a license management dashboard, demo infrastructure and tools for billing and invoicing, ultimately ensuring that users do not need to navigate outside the platform to manage their cloud software inventory.
Whilst many of the services provided by Pax8 are already included in cloud software applications, the company has made the smart move of partnering with software providers such as Bam Boom Cloud to unify all management tools into a single platform. By ensuring companies can browse, purchase, and manage cloud solutions within the marketplace, the company aims to increase accessibility and minimise complexities associated with cloud computing.
