Role
Who you are
- A passion for privacy and you’re excited talk about it
- Familiarity with at least one common Cloud platform and its native tooling and infrastructure paradigms
- Experience with testing, coding and debugging procedures for both applications and systems
- Ideas or experience with improving and automating privacy processes and tools
- Good analytical skills, including the ability to assess risks and impacts to individuals from a privacy and data protection perspective
- Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to distill complex concepts into understandable models for others
- Experience with Ruby and Rails or willingness to learn
- Advantage: CIPT Certification, or other privacy related certifications
- Advantage: Experience translating regulatory requirements (GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA) into actionable technical specifications
What the job involves
- Take responsibility for privacy features, tooling, integrations, monitoring, and maintaining technical compliance with regulations for privacy
- Plan and execute initiatives to fix the things you or others discover that put our members and the business at risk
- Collaborate with Engineers across the organization to support implementation of Privacy by Design within Vinted
- Create and curate automated monitoring and controls to make sure we use appropriate Privacy Enhancing Technologies (such as anonymization, pseudonymization and encryption) when developing systems/products/services to preserve and improve privacy protections
- Prepare guidelines and policies for privacy-related technical topics in your domain of expertise
- Communicate industry best practices and trends as well as Privacy Engineering initiatives to your Vinted colleague

For many years, the online fashion resale market was dominated by eBay. Vinted, first set up as a local website, has challenged the incumbent market leader by shifting focus towards sustainability.
Vinted has managed to compete successfully with other eCommerce platforms by providing more creative and personalized ways to shop, and focusing solely on fashion. With 75 million users it outstrips other fashion-focused competitors in this space, such as Depop which has roughly half the user base, but it sees its real competition in retailers that sell new clothing.
Vinted has raised significant funding which it has invested into rapid expansion, growing its presence in European markets and scaling up its US operations. While in the short term this has caused its profitability to drop, this expanded market reach is likely to yield dividends in the very near future.
