Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business or related field
- 10+ years progressive experience in Organizational Development, Change Management, or Talent Management
- Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-wide talent programs
- Strong business acumen and influencing skills with a strategic mindset that result in strong leadership commitment and actions
- Ability to work effectively with senior leaders, the HR community and peers to produce results in fast paced environments
- Strong organizational skills and evidence of self-motivation, as well as demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work both independently and in teams
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with proven capacity to foster an environment of positive employee engagement and trust
- Track record of using data and insights to drive positive change
What the job involves
- Design and implement organizational development initiatives that focus on employee onboarding/offboarding, performance management, succession planning, career pathing, and employee engagement
- Lead strategic programs by collaborating with leaders and People Business Partners (PBPs) to assess organization design, workflow, tools, roles, and behaviors
- Build a leadership pipeline and global talent review process, preparing the organization for growth and improving the depth and breadth of internal talent and skills across the company to increase the number of “ready now” candidates
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of talent development solutions and enterprise talent development initiatives. Consult and collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to create scalable talent solutions and/or team interventions
- Partner with PBPs to assess needs and manage implementation of talent programs and tools to accomplish specific business objectives. Build the capability of our HR teams and leaders to assess talent and future talent needs
- Design and drive a consistent and comprehensive global talent assessment approach and framework for our businesses and HR teams to leverage and assess talent and define talent pipelines
- Drive development practices to accelerate successor readiness and retention including identifying individual assessments, capitalizing on KPMG’s career planning processes and working with leaders to identify and provide
- Plan, implement and measure employee engagement and follow up efforts and action plans designed to drive improvements

Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time. The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
Now, it looks like IBM is eyeing the company for acquisition and Confluent looks to be a natural fit. Long positioned as the real-time backbone behind modern application, Confluent would gain global scale and an even deeper enterprise reach under iBM, while cementing its role at the center of AI-driven architectures. For COnfluent, the deal would marka shift from fast-growing independent disruptor to foundational infrastructure player powering the next wave of enterprise AI.
