Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team of passionate engineers who share the goal of shaping the technical foundation of Petli and developing a high quality service that will improve the lives of humans and their dogs
- You will be working with the development, deployment, monitoring and scaling of our backend system that enables a feature rich API for our application. You will be a key part of building the future of Petli and helping the team reach their goals
- Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience
- Experience with Go programming language and PostgreSQL
- Experience with deploying and orchestrating microservices in Kubernetes
- Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills
- Follows agile, test- and data-driven development
- Has a proactive attitude and can work well both collaboratively and independently
Desirable
- Experience with mobile and web application development process
- Knowledge with GraphQL
- Experience with building a content management system (CMS)
- Experience developing scalable backend services with high request loads
What the job involves
- Designing and developing new features for our backend services and refining existing functionality
- Overseeing, supporting and taking lead on technical projects and mentoring other developers in the team
- Monitoring performance, capacity and security issues to ensure optimal performance for our backend services
- Staying up to date with best practices, conducting research and implementing new technology as they become available
- Developing and supporting our backend infrastructure including databases, servers and CI/CD pipelines
- Troubleshooting and resolving bugs and issues for our users
- Being proactive and identifying risks and vulnerabilities in our systems
- Working closely with frontend developers to align on functionality and ensure compatibility

The Swedish start-up is responding to the very specific issue of shelters becoming overcrowded with dogs as their owners struggle to successfully care for them. There is a dearth of organised, reliable knowledge online surrounding dog-care, so Petli is filling this gap in the market and is doing so with strong pedigree; co-founder, Caroline Alupo, brings 17 years of expertise as a dog psychologist.
Petli is backed by some of Sweden’s most renowned investors, including Jacob de Greer of iZettle, and Patrick Söderlund of EA and Dice. With their help, the company is investing time and money into product development and achieving product-market fit.
