Role
Who you are
- Deep knowledge of Python for scripting and data manipulation
- Strong skills in DBT, including writing complex SQL and using Jinja templating
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark
- Experience with a workflow orchestration tool like Airflow
- Familiarity with AWS services (like S3 and EC2)
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code principles and Terraform
- Some experience with Scala is a plus
- Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy regulations (GDPR experience required)
- A business-minded approach and a history of thriving in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams
- As a fully remote company, clear and effective spoken and written communication—especially in asynchronous, long-form formats—is key to collaborating successfully
What the job involves
- We're looking for a versatile Mid-Level Data Engineer and Analytics Engineer to join our growing data team
- This hybrid role is at the core of our data operations
- You'll manage and optimize existing data pipelines while also building new ones to meet evolving business needs
- You'll use a variety of tools, including DBT, to create robust data models that are clean, well-documented, and easy for our analytics and business teams to use
- Maintain and improve current data pipelines for ingestion and transformation
- Design and deploy new pipelines using Python and Databricks
- Develop and manage data models with DBT, using SQL and Jinja to support business intelligence and analytics
- Ensure data quality and reliability throughout all pipelines and datasets
- Work with data analysts and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements
- Orchestrate pipelines and automate workflows using an orchestration system
- Help manage our infrastructure using tools like Terraform in our AWS environment
- Uphold data governance, security, and privacy standards, with a focus on GDPR compliance
Our take
Children learn best when they are engaged in their education, and learning through play is one of the best ways to achieve this. There is a huge variety of games, video lessons, and other online edutainment resources for parents to engage their children with, but these often lack the personalised and formal syllabus frameworks received during school hours
Lingokids develops an edutainment mobile application for children aged 2-8, consisting of games, video lessons, and audiobooks for children to learn from independently and with their families. The application is ad-free and certified as kidSAFE, and provides community and analytic tools for parents to keep track of their children's progress and activities
Whilst there are countless edutainment applications competing with the company, Lingokids stands out from the crowd with its approach of curating personalised syllabuses for children as opposed to one-size-fits-all educational exercises. And with numerous awards under its belt, Lingokids has certainly cemented itself as a leading edtech app for kids.
