Role
Who you are
- This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- 4+ years of experience in project, program, or product management, preferably in data analytics, technology, consulting, or related fields
- Training or educational background in engineering, data science, or a related technical discipline
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and strategists
- Experience supporting business development, including proposal writing and client communications
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience managing projects involving software or data product development
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple high priority projects independently and simultaneously
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with project management software (Asana, Jira, etc.), Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite
- Team player with a problem solving attitude
What the job involves
- The Program Management team sits within BlueLabs’ Insights division. We lead and coordinate the processes that drive successful execution of internal initiatives and client deliverables across sectors
- Our team works closely with engineering, polling, data science, analytics, and client teams to provide strategic guidance, streamline operations, and ensure alignment across projects
- The Project Manager I, Special Projects will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating client-facing and internal projects across BlueLabs. This includes supporting business development initiatives, overseeing the execution of public opinion surveys, and managing ad hoc engineering and analytics work
- Reporting to the Associate Director of Program Management, the Project Manager will be instrumental in enhancing workflow efficiency, tracking progress, and driving measurable outcomes
- Provide strategic and operational support across a range of internal and client initiatives, including surveys, analytics programs, and engineering projects
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure the effective execution of projects, managing internal and external communications, and monitoring timelines, resource allocation, and key milestones to ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope
- Support business development efforts by contributing to project planning, scoping, and proposal development
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and tools
Application process
- We expect to onboard this position in October 2025. To get there, we anticipate the successful candidate will complete three interviews (HR 15 minutes, hiring manager 45 minutes, and team interview 60 minutes), all virtually, as well as a technical skills assessment
Our take
BlueLabs leverages big data to gain an understanding of and engagement with audiences, allowing its customers to launch more effective communications campaigns. The majority of its work initially came through political campaigns and social impact drives, though the company has expanded its activities into more commercial fields like brand perception and sales in the last few years.
BlueLabs has an interesting origin story, with the founding quartet all working in senior analytics roles for the Democratic Party during the 2012 presidential campaign, where Barack Obama won a second term against Mitt Romney.
Though the jury is still out on the ethics of big data methods for political motivation - for instance, the Cambridge Analytica scandal regarding its use of social media data in influencing elections - this approach has proven to be extremely effective in persuading and activating audiences. There’s also little doubt that it can be used for great causes too, as shown by BlueLabs’ work with the likes of the UN Refugee Agency, and environmental organization The Sierra Club.
