Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of fullstack software engineering or devops experience and 2+ years managing software engineering teams
- A deep software development skills in at least one systems development language such as C#, C++, Python, Java, or JavaScript
- Intense curiosity about how things work and a natural drive to continuously improve systems
- Experience with modern technology stacks for building scalable, high availability customer-facing applications
- Experience in distributed systems, systems automation, and cloud technologies
- The drive to dive in, constantly learn new things, and build awesome products
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis
What the job involves
- You will report to our Sr. Manager, Engineering located in our Bellevue office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer
- Establish priorities based on technical needs and company objectives
- Lead, coach, and inspire your team to achieve exceptional results
- Provide mentorship in holistic professional development and in specific technical areas
- Manage a team of 3-6 software engineers to continuously improve stability, performance, and deliver great product
- Drive the development and success of multiple products and services
- Promote engineering excellence, architectural development, AWS cost optimization, and operational monitoring best practices for highly available services
- Collaborate with partner teams across the company including engineering, finance, product management, development, UX design, and customer support teams
- Own the front-end, backend services, and AWS infrastructure that powers the core Smartsheet app
