What the job involves
- High-level coordination of incoming requests, questions, updates, and company needs to reduce the co-founders' workload and allow them to focus on more strategic tasks
- Providing guidance and support to the organization, maintaining morale, and ensuring that goals and objectives continue to be met
- Monitoring ongoing projects and initiatives, ensuring they are progressing as planned, and addressing any obstacles or delays that may arise
- Facilitating communication with leadership to ensure the co-founders are aware of significant issues and providing regular status updates
- Managing the co-founders' schedule and ensuring that they have adequate time for strategic thinking, planning, and execution
- Streamlining the co-founders' meeting schedule by eliminating unnecessary meetings, creating clear agendas, and ensuring meetings stay on track and focused
- Providing decision-making support by offering insights, recommendations, and alternative perspectives to help the co-founders make the best possible choices for the company
- Offering support in managing the co-founders' personal and professional life, such as arranging travel, coordinating family commitments, or handling other logistics that may impact their work-life balance
- Execution of tasks that would otherwise fall on a co-founder, either directly or via collaboration and delegation
- Addressing any issues or crises that may arise and working with the appropriate teams to develop and implement effective solutions
Our take
Forem is a product by DEV Community Inc, an open-source software community consisting of hundreds of thousands of professional developers. Forem, founded in 2017, is the software that powers that community and has been built up for use in others as well.
Alongside DEV, Forem operates CodeNewbie among other platforms that act as an alternative to Reddit and Facebook and have no central authority operating them. The intention is to provide an ecosystem to empower and connect developers, all with an inclusive ethos and a focus on building new products and sharing insight.
Forem has two products under its belt that are available for use by development communities. These are Forem Self-Host which is free to use and Forem Cloud, a paid platform for professional development teams. The two options exemplify the team’s open-to-all motivation, and though presently lacking in marketing and advertising, attracted Forem its seed funding in 2018 and 2020.
