- Grit - You demonstrate grit by having the courage to commit and persevere. You’re committed, earnest, and dive in to get the job done well with a positive attitude
- Integrity - Simply put, do what you say and say what you'll do. You’re honest and forthright, have a strong moral compass, and strive to match your words with your actions while leading by example
- Simplicity - Be like Einstein: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.”
- Minimum of 7 years of professional hands-on experience
- Mastery of modern server side languages, Golang is a plus but not required
- Proficiency with SQL
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure management, preferably AWS
- Experience supporting and mentoring other engineers and acting as a “force multiplier”

- This team is mission-critical, operating at the heart of our platform's financial accuracy and compliance
- You will lead technical decision-making and be expected to take initiative in identifying projects that will enable us to meet key business goals, such as scaling our tax and money movement capabilities, improving the integrity of our financial ledger, and developing robust platform interfaces for payroll data
- We’re looking for people who have a passion for solving real-world, complex financial problems and will thrive building a growing team focused on reliability and precision
- Independently own larged-scoped projects from initial discovery through launch with a focus on outcomes and customer impact
- Collaborate with a cross functional team to find solutions to customer challenges

- Promote engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing and mentorship
- Add capabilities to our high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure

Our take
Justworks operates in an increasingly crowded space of all-in-one business operation suites, that include tools like human resources, payroll, employee management, benefits, and others that businesses critically need to operate as they scale.
Globally, human resource management has become an extremely fertile field, creating great opportunity for Justworks to continue to grow. The company is regarded as a market leader, but does see competition in the shape of Paychex Flex, Rippling, Paylocity, and TriNet, among others.
Justworks' solutions have proven extremely popular with SMEs, and this has not gone unnoticed by investors - with the company picking up considerable amounts of funding. The company is known to have sights on going public, though these were delayed somewhat by market conditions. That said, it has continued to expand operations and acquired Via in 2024, signalling that its going strong.
