Who you are

You have graduated from an Engineering School and with minimum 6 years of professional experience in Software Engineering. Experience in an international B-to-B SaaS is a plus
You speak French and English
You are familiar with the scrum agile methodology
You have an engineering mindset and strong knowledge in development. You master the Ruby on Rails framework and have knowledge of other languages/framework such as React, TypeScript, NestJS, Python
You help referencing and absorbing technical debt, perform R&D during your dev days and prez days
You have good communication skills by being structured and persuasive and able to make decisions and argue them
Good management of ambiguous and complex projects

What the job involves

We are looking for a new Senior Software Developer to join our engineering team
The team is dispatched into 4 squads
You will play a major role on the overseas squad in charge of implementing all the tracking mechanism for air and sea shipments, the core of our product
To do so, you will participate in the discovery with the product manager, contribute heavily to the delivery, and help your squad reaching its objectives
You will also take part to the cross team events (Wakeo Days, Dev Days, Prez Days) and contribute to the vibrant life of the Tech team
You will be supported in your journey at Wakeo by your Engineering Manager that will help you keep growing as a Software Engineer
Short term (4 months) :
You have a good understanding of the product
You have a good understanding of our architecture and infrastructure
You understand and follow the process at Wakeo for product and engineers from discovery to increment release
You bond with your squad
You release new increments, reaching sprint goals successfully
Long Term :
You have a strong understanding of the product
You contribute to architecture and infrastructure decisions
You undertake large and challenging code refactoring
You are able to challenge product requests and technical choices made by the team
You take part into technical discovery for new features
You take part into R&D for bringing innovative solutions to Wakeo

Our take

During the pandemic, investment in logistics ramped up due to the need to switch to remote tracking, as well as create solutions to counteract new limits to movement. However, since then the sector has seen many of its issues overlooked, despite an urgent need to address things like infrastructure congestion and extended transit times.

Wakeo hopes to answer these issues, by bringing real-time visibility to intercontinental freight transport flows across shipping, air, and road. Its platform combines IoT and alogirthmic technology to give export and import teams intelligent ETAs that factor in the shifting sands of supply chain disruptions. Using this data, Wakeo’s customers have the power to optimise transport plans, reduce emergency costs and enhance the management of their inventories.

With international shipping as unpredictable as ever, it’s no surprise that Wakeo enjoyed $19.6 million in funding in December 2023. This funding is being put towards the company’s expansion, as well as consolidating its path to sustainability, as goods transportation makes up 17% of global emissions.
