Role
Who you are
- As our Senior Director of Data and Analytics, you will lead and shape Seed’s data vision, strategy, and execution. You will partner with leaders across Product, Science, Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to transform data into actionable insights that drive business growth and scientific discovery
- 10+ years of experience in data and analytics roles, including 5+ years in leadership positions
- Proven track record of building and scaling data teams and infrastructure in high-growth environments
- Expertise in data strategy, architecture, and governance, with deep understanding of modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Airflow)
- Skilled in analytics methodologies, experimentation, and developing actionable business and scientific insights
- Exceptional communication skills; able to translate complex data concepts for diverse technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in e-commerce, health tech, or consumer health (bonus); passion for advancing science and improving human health through data
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to solving problems and driving impact
- Deep understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and analytics engineering
- Mastery of SQL and strong familiarity with modern data tools (e.g., dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow)
- Experience with experimentation design, statistical analysis, and advanced analytics techniques
- Familiarity with visualization and BI platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau)

What the job involves
- You will build and mentor a high-performing data team, define and scale our analytics frameworks, and advance a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization
- Lead and Grow the Data Function
- Define and execute Seed’s data and analytics vision and roadmap, aligning with company-wide priorities
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing data team, including analytics engineers, data analysts, and data scientists
- Foster a culture of curiosity, rigor, and continuous learning
- Enable Data-Driven Decision-Making
- Partner with Product, Marketing, Science, and Operations to deliver insights that inform growth, product development, and scientific research
- Develop and scale robust data models, pipelines, and reporting frameworks to support self-service analytics and experimentation
- Advance Data Strategy and Governance
- Define and enforce data governance standards to ensure quality, accuracy, and security of data assets
- Oversee data architecture decisions, infrastructure investments, and performance optimization
- Champion best practices in data privacy, compliance, and ethical use of data
- Drive Business and Scientific Impact
- Translate complex data into actionable strategies to optimize customer experience, improve retention, and drive operational efficiency
- Support scientific teams with data-driven approaches to study design, analysis, and publication
- Identify new opportunities for innovation and growth through advanced analytics and data science
Our take
Seed Health is a microbial company that researches, develops and sells probiotic supplements to boost gastrointestinal, dermatological oral, pediatric and nutritional health.
The last decade has seen a renewed focus on probiotics, and gut health in particular, with scores of companies bringing supplements to market. However the efficacy of many of these are still shrouded in doubt, and lacking in insightful scientific research. Seed appears committed to upping (and setting) the standard. The company’s chief scientist, Dr. Gregor Reid, is a global authority in microbial sciences, having chaired the UN-WHO panel that first defined the term “probiotics”. On top of this, the company’s advisory board comes with a strong resume in microbiology, immunology, genetics, metabolomics, gastroenterology, pediatrics, environmental sciences and women’s health.
The next big step for Seed Health will be to rise above an already crowded marketplace while continuing R&D for new product categories, with a particular focus on AI applications. Substantial funding in 2021 alongside stable profitability and the fostering of groundbreaking partnerships with the likes of the Swiss Institute of Allergy prove it is turning heads in the science sector.
