Role
Who you are
- 3-6 years of relevant experience, ideally including time in Investment Banking, Public Accounting, or FP&A at a high-growth company
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with fluency in Excel/Google Sheets and financial modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to senior leadership and collaborate cross-functionally
- Experience with reporting automation or business intelligence tools (e.g., Sigma, Looker, Tableau) preferred
What the job involves
- Flock Safety is seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager â Reporting to elevate our financial reporting and technical forecasting capabilities as we scale
- Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate FP&A, this role will play a critical part in delivering insights to our executive team, board, and investors
- Youâll own the development and delivery of Finance board materials, close reporting, and executive dashboards, while also leading forecasting for key technical components of the P&Lâincluding stock-based compensation, depreciation, and taxes
- This is a highly visible role with cross-functional exposure across accounting, investor relations, and departmental finance leaders
- In addition, youâll have the opportunity to drive special projects and support strategic initiatives as the company continues to grow
- The First 30 Days
- Understand our current reporting, technical forecasting, and systems
- Begin work on a monthly close deck and Corporate FP&A dashboard
- The First 60 Days
- Run (w/ assistance) our current reporting and technical forecasting processes
- Build v1s of monthly close deck and Corporate FP&A dashboard
- 90 Days & Beyond
- Own our current reporting and technical forecasting processes
- Identify potential improvements in current processes, reports, and models and begin outlining steps needed to do so
- Complete monthly close deck and Corporate FP&A initial dashboard

- The XFN Interviews: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows
- You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values (2 separate 30-minute interviews, during one interview stage)
- The Executive Interview: A chance to meet with our Chief Financial Officer to view Flock from a different lens
- Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more
Our take
Public vehicle surveillance provides valuable insights to emergency services for the prevention of crime, but bringing information together to create leads is difficult. There's no standardised system for inter-city vehicle surveillance, and this makes it difficult for communities and law enforcement services to work together.
Flock provides surveillance equipment that aims to improve the abilities of law enforcement and homeowner associations to communicate data with each other. The company focuses on vehicle surveillance, innovating on existing technology by using machine learning to categorise vehicles by color, license plate, state, and other data points.
Whilst automated surveillance equipment is used daily within federal police forces, Flock builds technology systems that provide a means for smaller law enforcement agencies to quantify and share surveillance data easily. The company has raised strong funding to support the expansion of its manufacturing capabilities. But it has also faced a large dose of backlash from groups and individuals who are concerned about its capability for mass surveillance and the privacy of the data it collects.
