Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields required, and master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of previous relevant experience in industry or public accounting
- Proficiency with NetSuite (or other similar ERP systems), AP/Procurement tools, T&E applications, among others
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and digest large amounts of data required
- Experience in corporate month-end closing cycle
- Excellent time and self-management skills and ability to prioritize critical projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with other members of the team, members of other departments, drive progress toward meeting goals
- Adaptability and flexibility to assist with a variety of projects in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment

What the job involves
- We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will work with other Greenlight Accounting and Finance team members and Greenlight employees on various challenging assignments
- A successful Senior Accountant will be passionate about helping in a variety of different areas of need as we continue to grow the accounting operations
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate entries in the accounting system and follow-up on any unusual transactions
- Prepare journal entries, perform financial analysis and support the month-end close process
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet accounts assigned
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of Greenlight’s cost of sales expenses, prepaid expenses, among other key operating expenses
- Assist in the preparation of accounting for international operation, including revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses and related balance sheet accounts, assist in inter-company accounting and consolidations
- Assist in review of accounts receivable aging reports and customer cash application
- Participate in a variety of cross-functional and cross-departmental projects that include data validation, review of reports, communication with vendors, implementation of systems, among others
- Perform financial statement reviews during month-end close and provide detailed explanations for period over period changes in the financial statements
- Support external audit requests for specific areas of responsibility

Greenlight was built to help parents raise financially-smart kids. It’s a gap in a generation’s education for which a new sector of ‘family finance’ is emerging to combat.
The company serves millions of parents and kids with accounts distinguished by their easy-to-use money management tools and educational resources. Even Viola Davis, famed actress, told Jimmy Kimmel that she uses the fintech startup’s services to teach her daughter financial lessons.
Greenlight is now looking to expand its suite of products into more lucrative verticals. In particular, 2022 saw the launch of its first credit card product for parents. Like most credit cards, it will offer cashback (up to 3% on all purchases).
The supposed difference between Greenlight’s offering and others is that this cashback can automatically be directed to investment opportunities, framed as helping parents save for their children’s education. Greenlight’s advantage is the trust it has earned from millions of families. The startup’s long-term success will be determined by whether it can release these lucrative products without tarnishing this trust.
