Who you are
- This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who gets energized by ambiguity, rolls up their sleeves to master our product at a molecular level, and uses AI and automation to punch above their weight
- If you're a creator excited by winning high-stakes deals, prototyping technical solutions, and driving strategic revenue outcomes - this could be for you
- 7+ years in Solutions Engineering or Pre-Sales - with 3+ years leading technical strategy in high-complexity Enterprise deals (6-7 figures) with minimal oversight
- 5+ years across modern development stacks: Python, JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, React), RESTful APIs, SQL, mobile development exposure
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Codex, Claude Code) and emerging patterns like MCP
- Strong domain knowledge in marketing automation, CDPs, eCommerce systems, analytics, or data engineering
- Advanced discovery and requirements gathering skills - navigating multi-layered stakeholder environments
- Executive presence and exceptional communication - impressing prospects from executive to developer level
- Demonstrated ability to handle challenging conversations, manage objections, and deliver strategic insights

What the job involves
- At Klaviyo, the Sales team prides themselves on being marketing and product experts. While most companies hire pre-sales Solutions Engineers to just give demos, fill out questionnaires, and only explain setups, that makes us yawn
- We're looking for a Lead Solutions Engineer who brings deep technical mastery, strategic thinking, and the ability to own the most complex, high-stakes Large-Enterprise deals
- As an L3 Lead SE, you'll be a trusted advisor to both customers and our sales organization - leading technical strategy in 6-7 figure deals, owning solution design, and setting the standard for SE excellence through your work
- We're technical sellers who drive revenue by winning complex Enterprise deals. Our job is to lead the technical win - building champions, proving value, and ensuring prospects choose Klaviyo over the competition
- We work directly with customers to architect solutions that integrate seamlessly into their tech stacks, taking a consultant-first approach that builds confidence and secures technical buy-in
- Beyond closing deals, we use customer engagements as opportunities to prototype and ship improvements to Klaviyo. Recent team projects include: AI-powered demo data generators, a public Chrome extension for troubleshooting API calls, web SDK injectors, and templatized mobile apps for showcasing our SDK capabilities
- Own technical strategy for the most complex Enterprise opportunities - navigating multi-layered stakeholder environments, competitive pressures, and sophisticated buying processes with minimal oversight
- Drive advanced technical discovery, uncovering nuanced pain points and proactively identifying differentiation opportunities
- Host technical workshops aligning solutions to business outcomes with executive presence and strategic communication
- Architect and execute Proof of Value plans that achieve technical selection over competition
- Partner with AEs on deal strategy, bringing competitive intelligence and industry expertise to influence outcomes
- Serve as a domain expert in marketing technology, CDPs, AI-driven personalization, analytics, and eCommerce
- Act as go-to resource for competitive and industry landscape questions
- Build strong R&D relationships, actively collaborating to drive positive outcomes and shape Klaviyo's roadmap
- Contribute high-impact content to the SA Learning Library and mentor peers through example
- Become a complete expert in Klaviyo's platform from data pipelines and integration codebases to technical tradeoffs between implementations
- Develop broad, advanced familiarity with web development, APIs, cloud computing, and software development practices - confidently coaching experienced engineers on complex solutions
- Leverage AI tools and automation to scale your impact and deliver better customer outcomes
- Prototype solutions and build proof-of-concepts that demonstrate Klaviyo's differentiation

Klaviyo is a marketing firm helping growth-focused eCommerce brands drive more sales with super-targeted, highly relevant email, Facebook and Instagram marketing campaigns. From personalised newsletters to automated emails when customers abandon their shopping carts, the marketing automation platform makes it easy for businesses to capture, store, analyze, and predictively use their own data to drive measurable, high-value outcomes.
Klaviyo's CEO, Bialecki, believes that the main problem with e-mail marketing today is that there is a divide between two kinds of tools: analytics tools that help you understand what people are doing on a website, such as what products they are considering, and messaging tools that send them a marketing e-mail. Operating primarily within the retail and eCommerce industry, Klaviyo aims to solve this by offering a tool that brings together analytics and messaging. This allows companies to bring all of their first-party data into a single platform to get a deep understanding of their customers and then activate that data to deliver highly-targeted, personalised communications through email and SMS. In the process, Klaviyo's customers get a deep understanding of their consumers.
Klaviyo is a fast-growing company mainly due to its business model - the firm offers a concrete ROI for Klaviyo’s clients if the software persuades customers to make purchases by treating different types of customers differently. An IPO in 2023 has led to Klaviyo's release of Klaviyo AI, which empowers businesses to unlock revenue-driving opportunities and deliver exceptional customer experiences across channels. Still in its early days of public listing, it will be interesting to see how Klaviyo fares in the years to come.
